Maximum chaos!

For the unprecedented and insane 6-way tie for the second wild card spot (MLB has no tie-breaker scenario to handle 6-way tie), you want the following to happen over the next 5 days:

- NYY 4-1 (lose one to BOS, sweep BAL)
- BAL 0-5 (get swept by TOR, get swept by NYY)
- DET 1-4 (win 1 game vs CLE or ATL)
- SEA 2-3 (win 1 against HOU, win 1 against OAK)
- HOU 2-2 (win 2 against LAA)
- KC 5-0 (sweep MIN, sweep CLE)

(Of course, as a Jays fan I would rather Toronto sweep Baltimore, sweep Boston, and watch Boston get swept by NYY. Then Toronto beats Boston in a one-game playoff (in Toronto) for the division title.)

Of course Tim Tebow hit a home run on the first pitch he saw in his first professional baseball game...

Yahoo with the obligatory headline claiming that Tebow pulled off a miracle.

He ran that thing out like he was determined to get to the Hall of Fame before Pete Rose does.

Dropped the bat like it was a hooker's thong and scrammed to first. Never saw him run like that in Gainesville.

grum, if I'm reading that right, it's at least partially impossible. Seattle can't get exactly 1 win against Houston, and Houston get only 2 wins against the Angels.

Why not?

SEA and HOU played tonight (their last game of the series), and SEA won. They then had a 4 game series against OAK. So they win Wednesday's game (they did) and win one more against OAK. They'd go 2-3.

HOU lost their game against SEA (as needed), and can win 2 against LAA (of their 3 game series). They'd go 2-2. HOU had already played an extra game.

Now the updated version (now that KC is out of the fun because of BAL win):

- NYY (82-76) 4-0 (win last one against BOS, sweep BAL)
- BAL (86-72) 0-4 (lose last one against TOR, get swept by NYY)
- DET (85-73) 1-3 (win one of their last games, the opponent doesn't matter)
- SEA (84-74) 2-2 (win two of their games against OAK)
- HOU (83-76) 3-0 (sweep LAA)

All of the teams would end up with 86 wins.

There is no listed tie-breaker scenario for a 5-way tie for one spot.

I stand corrected. I started my post with "if I'm reading that right"...apparently I wasn't...my bad...
