Fantasy Premier League, Week Six: Spurs visits Man City early Saturday to open the Premier League weekend. Hillbilly F.C. takes first place back from FC Gallifrey. Maplewood Town rockets into third with a 72-point total that's the best in the league for a third straight week (damn!). Man United forward Anthony Martial (£8.3m) has scored 18 points in his first two weeks, inspiring 660,000 owners to pick him up this week. Diego Costa's (£11.0m) three-game ban for persistent douchery put him off 144,000 rosters. The FPL Scout likes Man U midfielder Juan Mata (£8.7m) as a pickup this week. He faces lowly Sunderland at home and has a goal or assist in four of six matches.

A question for owners this week: How often do you make extra transfers that deduct from your point total?

A few years ago I kept an eye on what our first place owner was doing that was outplaying me so consistently. The biggest difference I saw was that he made two and sometimes three moves each week. This cost him points but he'd consistently win them back with better results from his new signings.

I've still never managed to try that except in total desperation. Points feel so hard-earned I can't bring myself to give any up.

I did it twice last season, once when I had a slew of injuries and was looking for healthy players to get on the field, and once during that late-season stretch where a few teams played twice in the same gameweek, so I wanted to load up on players with a doubleheader. It worked out for me in those unique situations, but I can't imagine doing it on a regular basis. Of course, I don't have a sophisticated enough knowledge of the EPL to have a number of potential moves lined up week-to-week.

That works for the overall but possibly not if you're in head-to-head leagues or when cup matchups begin.

Just looked at the overall, and I see I'm in an area in which I've never been: top 6 percent of the world. MUHAHAHA!

Zero points from the defense and GK. Messrs. Kolarov, Sagna, Gomes and Hart: thank you for playing. We have some nice parting gifts backstage.
