Texans RB, Arian Foster Publically Declares Himself an Atheist: “I get the devil-worship thing a lot. They’ll ask me, ‘You worship the devil?’ ” he told ESPN. “‘No, bro, I don’t believe there’s a God, why would I believe there’s a devil?’ ”

Anticipating that Rev. Pat Robertson will weigh in with a divine interpretation of Foster's recent groin injury.

I'm not surprised one bit! What else would you expect from someone named after the nazi super race of people?

Plus, his family name comes from a crappy beer...how could he not worship the devil, or in fact be the devil himself?

Wasn't he a Buddhist like two seasons ago?

@yerfatma: Buddhism "is a nontheistic religion or philosophy" so I'm not sure that's incompatible with his statement. If correct (that he said it).

He was/is(?) vegan and has done a Namaste pose as a touchdown celebration (which may or may not have been a response to "Tebowing") but I don't think he ever claimed to be a Buddhist or Hindu or anything in particular.

This article is about the best I can find from cursory Googling on his past spiritual philosophy.

Also, I'm glad this got published and a world as conservative as Professional Football has an outspoken atheist and maybe other atheist athletes won't feel obligated to pay lip-service to any higher power they don't believe in. I wouldn't put up with it in my workplace and I work (in a decidedly secular department) at a religious university.

Will he point at the ground when he scores?

Oh man, I am so close to agreeing with the sentiment on that shirt...
