Really happy to have picked up Yordano Ventura for this year's fantasy roster. A week after getting ejected for Brett Lawrie, now he's inciting a brawl in Chicago. He also cleared the benches April 12th by taking exception to a Mike Trout single. Yeesh.

Something is wrong with Ventura. That's TWO times he's jawed at a player who has hit a ball up the middle. Trout's went for a single, Eaton's was just a ground ball he fielded.

I'm wondering if the rest of the Royals are going to be quick to back him up any more, as he seems to be mentally unstable on the mound.

Looks like this Ventura needs the Nolan Ryan full salon treatment more than the other one did.

Chiarelli goes to Edmonton

Pretty soft landing for him given their #1 pick. If the Oilers actually get on track and the Bruins don't improve, people will be howling.

Drayton Moore's response to Ventura:

"I think our guys have done an incredible job of managing some of the things that have came their way, early on in the season," Moore said. "It's not unexpected. When you win, those types of things happen. People are coming for you. That's part of it."

Yeah, the Giants are just brawling left right and centre. Oh wait...

Oilers as currently built are not really a good fit for Bruins-style hockey. Does Chiarelli know any other kind?

One for grum: NESN clearly has a stats problem. They're correctly reporting Mookie Betts's average as .206 but reporting his slugging percentage at 1.000. That's well into One Weird Trick territory.

This is from owlhouse territory, the Canterbury Park Racecourse. The jockey says there is quite a bit of national exposure for this. There have been no comments from the horses or jockeys that were trailing him.

For the record, the greatest discrepancy between AVG and SLG in history was Barry Bonds in 2001.
He had a .328 AVG and an .863 SLG (2.63 times the AVG, or an ISO of .536).

Thanks Howard. I know that course well.

/When I was a bookie's runner, we used to field at Canterbury. At one stage I'd been to every Saturday and midweek meeting in Sydney for a year, and hadn't laid eyes on a horse. When the race was on, that was my break time to take a leak or grab a bite.
