NBA Draft 2001; The Green Reach, Or The Picks That Wouldn't Die...: Joe Forte may not last through his rookie contract. Ouch. Let's jump into the wayback machine and discuss what the hell happened to the Celts draft class of 2001. Or should I say, whats left of it. Is this the worst series of picks by one team in a single draft? What are your favorite draft snafus, reaches, or horror stories?More inside...

I can almost understand drafting Joe Johnson, he seemed talented just aloof. Too aloof for Mr. O'Brien apparently. Kedrick Brown appears to be a victim of "upside". Talented enough to make you fall in love, inconsistent enough to make you want to throttle him. But the selection of Joe "Freaking" Forte when Tony Parker and Gilbert Arenas are still on the board? Actually you might question the selection of any of Bostons picks considering who else was on the board: Troy Murphy, Zach Randolph, Vladimir Radmanovic, Richard Jefferson, Jason or Jarron Collins. Uggh! I feel dirty.

Hey thanks a lot for this post. It's not like I don't still cry myself to sleep about it. I love the image of Red Auerbach, cataracts covering both eyes, reaching a skeletal finger into the air and whispering, "Draft Forte. He'll be a . . . player." Other teams get Tony Parker or Gilbert Arena. But us? We get Joe Forte in a $250 Scooby-Doo t-shirt sitting on the end of the bench. I still believe in Kedrick. And Santa.

I am quite certain that both of the Seattle Sonics picks from this year (Collison and Ridnour) will be out of basketball in 3 or 4 years.

What about Morlende? He was at one time "rated higher than Tony Parker" in the French League.

Hee hee, French League.
