Interesting coincidence but what exactly would the conspiracy theory be?

Obviously, kloeprich, the Kobe trial is a publicity stunt for the movie!

Dale Davis is Dr.Evil, plotting to ruin the life of young NBA star Kobe Bryant, and cash in at the same time. Not only has he successfully damaged Kobe's reputation, by implanting neuro-controlling-nano-technoolgy during a recent MRI and subsequently making Kobe force himself on a young hotel employee, but DD, as the CIA refers to him in secret memos (that aren't passed to the FBI, just cuz) has a sure-fire network wet dream in the can, months before the actual 'rape' incident occurs. The perfect alibi, the impossibility of time travel...Don't let me get started on that.

It's all so clear now...

When you said conspiracy theory and basketball I was expecting to see a mention of pre-draft potential contract pitfalls that saw Maciej Lampe fall out of the lottery and right into the second round where he was picked up by the Knicks. It was on Page 2 yesterday and I could dig it up if they sorted out their archives quicker...

Makes perfect sense to me. Dale Davis is clearly paying off this 19 year old to make this story up to coincide with the premier of his movie. Now I know there's some poisoned koolaid around here I've been meaning to drink...
