Tito Vilanova leaves Barcelona due to a recurrence of throat cancer. No word yet on whether Pep will visit him.

So sad for Tito and Barca, looking forward to reading the news of his recovery soon!

That's REALLY stretching the boundaries to get him into any sort of decent company.

Eckersley has 20+ more wins and 300+ more saves, while Smoltz has 30+ more wins and 60+ more saves.

If you lower the barrier to 150/60, you finally add another person (Charlie Hough)

If you lower the barrier to the "rounder" 150/50, you add Jack Quinn, Wilbur Wood, Waite Hoyte, and Lefty Grove.

Smoltz's 200/100 milestone (213/154) is really the interesting one of the bunch, as he's the only one to do it.

The proper headline is:

"Active leaders in losses retires from the game."

Actually, that's a bit mean. How about:

"Starting pitcher for playoff-spot-clinching game in regular season and all three playoff rounds of 2004 Boston Red Sox historic World Series season, retires."
