NFL Impersonator Faces First-Degree Fraud Charges That sounds like an Onion headline, but it's actually real.

Chargers have a three point lead in fourth and inches inside Chiefs' territory with 90 seconds to play and decide to go for it, knowing a first down allows them to burn the rest of the clock.

So far, so sensible.

Then they snap the ball with 20 seconds on the playclock.

The NFL seems to have a large number of teams who need to hire clock management specialists.

Its Norv and the Chargers; you can't expect them to do it the easy way.

LaVar Arrington once again reminds us why we don't like LaVar Arrington.

The NFC East is crazy. 60,000 Eagles fans cheered while Irvin lay motionless on the field. I don't see that what Arrington said is such a big deal. It probably is the defining moment of his career. And, that's what he was getting paid to do anyway. In today's game, Aikman probably would have retired before his 10th concussion.

The thing I dislike is the image he cultivates in his essay of a guy who can hardly eat in peace without doting fans pestering him with questions about his legendary hitting prowess, particularly that time he put Aikman out of football. It's a wild ego trip.

But, don't you think it is true and it says more about the fans than him?

I don't understand the defenseless receiver call based on that late call in the Dallas/Washington game. Defenders have to wait until a receiver has a chance to turn upfield now before a hit can be leveled? Why not make them count to three-Mississippi?

There was one of those against the Bills in the Pats' game as well. It's well out of hand at this point, and I'm saying that as a Pats fan who should have been happy with the 15 yards.

Apparently they're applying that stupid "football move" rule to the receivers now also. So if you're zeroing in to drill the WR right as the ball comes in, you'd better not be half a second late or you're getting a personal foul.

Ridiculous.

"Defenseless" receivers and quarterbacks ought to be made to wear skirts and underpants with lollipops or butterflies on them in order to draw penalties for illegal hits. They're in uniform, they have the appropriate padding, thus should be able to withstand a hit. I agree with the helmet-to-helmet rule, but only when the offender leads with the helmet and not when the contact is the result of the receiver or QB turning into the contact. I also agree with the rule against hitting a QB around the knees, since that is quite likely to cause injury and the QB often has his weight on the leg that is hit. The thing I see is that the officials have gone way too far in trying to "protect" some who play a violent game. It has affected the quality of play, and "NFL defense" is an oxymoron.
