Cubs Release Carlos Silva: The Chicago Cubs have released starting pitcher Carlos Silva and will be swallowing $8 million on his contract. Silva had an ERA of 11.12 and a WHIP of 2.47 after the All-Star break last season and his spring training ERA reached 15.88.

The sad part is that this is actually somewhat of a bargain in comparison to what could have happened, given that they got him and cash in exchange for the equally-awful Milton Bradley.

As a Cardinals fan, I am petrified that the thought going through some St. Louis' front office or managerial type's mind is "Dave Duncan can fix him."
