Three of the four threads on the main page today relate directly to the state of Iowa. That's gotta be a first.

Leafs deal Kaberle to Bruins After years of speculation and rumours, Tomas Kaberle is heading to Boston. The Leafs will receive prospect centre Joe Colborne, the Bruins' 1st round pick in 2011, and a conditional 2nd round pick in 2012 if Kaberle an unrestricted free agent this summer signs a new contract in Boston or if they make the Stanley Cup final.

Leafs deal Kaberle to Bruins

This sounds like Peter Chiarelli being nice to Brian Burke after the Kessel trade. Bruins' 1st rounder and Colborne is a bit much for a short-term rental. Adding the 2nd rounder if Kaberle signs with the Bs long-term (unlikely unless he will take a discount) or the Bs make the Cup final (also unlikely, given their inconsistency all season) puts this deal into the realm of 'just, plain bad'.

Jim Gray got involved in another golf confrontation.

When is he going to get the voltage based anal exam he so richly deserves?

Is NBA loosing support because of black majority players?

tl;dr: Correlation equals causation and let's just ignore that whole 90's black guy who brought basketball stardom to another level.

Leafs deal Kaberle to Bruins

And so the Leafs move one step closer to fielding a team consisting of, uhh, nobody.

Is NBA loosing support because of black majority players?

Oh yes, because the overwhelming majority of viewers would watch more often if white superstars like Christian Laettner, Cherokee Parks, and JJ Redick got more pt.

Please .. white, black, yellow, mauve - sports fans care about talent, not skin color.

The Hurricanes retired Brind'Amour's #17 tonight before their game with the Flyers. The Flyers were also honoring his time with their franchise by sporting a little 17 on their unis tonight.

Bissinger only finds 3 players in the NBA worth watching and they're all 2s/ 3s who score a lot. Awesome. If you can't see the genius in the play of Tim Duncan or get excited watching the current crop of point guards, etc., I don't think you're the sports fan you claim to be. I really do not care for that man.

The one white American player today who comes the closest to being a star is Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Two-time MVPs don't get to be called "stars"?

That's pretty harsh.

Or dumb.

I completely forgot that Brind'Amour started with St. Louis.

Also, I don't think he gets to the HHOF (even though I think he's better than this guy), but having 16 seasons where you played at least 78 games a season (and another where you played every game of a lockout shortened season) is a damn impressive.

Hockey ironmen don't get enough credit.
