MoSpoFi?: SportsFilter is one of the few sites that I visit frequently that are A) Primarily text and B) Nearly unusable on my mobile browser (to the point that I can post a new link with my blackberry, but I can't comment). Any chance there's a more mobile-friendly version of SpoFi in the works? If not, can there be?

I support this idea wholeheartedly.

I've never designed mobile sites. If anyone can offer advice, I'll put one up.

Since I am an old fart whose mobile communications are limited to 'phone calls and text messages (no web use), I would hope that all of the posts/comments made via mobile devices would be available to the on-line version and vice versa. I would not want the community to divide into those who use mobile a lot and those who use it not much.

Nah, you'd never know the difference, Howard. It'd just make it easier for some of us to post our Hot Sports Opinions from the crapper when away from the computer.

I have no idea what it would take, rcade, but if it's the kind of thing we need to raise some funds to source it out, I'd be willing to chip in.

I think it involves mere putting an "m" in your URL. http://m.sportsilter.com. That's it.

Just need a new stylesheet targeted to mobile devices, easiest thing is to grab a mobile emulator (I have some tagged here), load the site and start hacking stuff out of the design with "display: none", then adjust the things you need to fit the screen. Since this is a scaling, percentage-based widths site, it shouldn't be too bad.

I can provide some more advice, but not a heck of a lot of help, at least until April or so :)

Here's an article that's a little old but gives the idea about testing with emulators.
