2011 Pro Bowl rosters announced: Brady and Vick starting QBs. New England leads the AFC with six picks. Atlanta leads the NFC with seven.

What I find amusing is that the Patriots, statistically one of the worst defenses in the league, has four defensemen and only two players from their #1-by-a-lot offense. Not sure how their TEs don't make the cut, but guys like Mayo and Meriweather do.

Now, if the NFL would only take the sensible next step and not bother playing the game-that-nobody-watches. Give everyone a free trip to Hawaii, fruity drinks with umbrellas, flowery leis and leave it at that.

I don't have any major complaints. Sure, there are future Hall of Famers on the down side still skating in on their past glory (yeah, I'm looking right at you, Ed Reed), but that's gonna happen. I'm just glad Ndamukong Suh is starting. That monster might be the best at his position in the league as a rookie.

Oh, and to Kokaku, the reason the Pats don't have more offensive players on the roster is that they are the perfect Hoodie team. When you have a solid NFL starter at every position and no real weaknesses, you don't need superstars.

Past glory? Perhaps I'm being a homer here, but 6 INTs (tied for second in the NFL, tied for first among safeties), 135 return yards from those (second in the NFL), and 13 passes defended (second in the NFL among safeties) looks pretty darn comprehensive for a guy at his position. The only other safety with stats close to Reed's is the other AFC starter, Troy Polamalu.

Do some research before you level a claim like that.

I can't defend the Meriweather pick (he might be the 3rd best safety on his team, never mind the league), but Mayo's selection might have something to do with leading the NFL in tackles.

I'm glad to see Pouncey get rewarded for his performance. He's been a rare steading force on Steelers O line.

If anything Ray Lewis is much closer to still skating in on his past glory than Ed Reed is. There are very few safeties in the game that are better than Ed Reed.

It is nice to see Suh and Calvin Johnson get the recognition they deserve, both are freakish physical talents who are going to dominate their position for years to come.

I think Rivers over Matt Cassel is a sham.

Glad to see the Jaguars sending three players -- the most for the franchise since 1999. Maurice Jones-Drew, Marcedes Lewis and special teamer Montell Owens are all deserving picks. I wish the team had played like Pro Bowlers against the Washington backups last weekend.

Yup. But at least Cassel is finally getting his shot at the playoffs, which he really should have had in '08.

I'm sure fantasy owners wish Rashad Jennings had shown up to play.

Meriweather has been playing so badly over the last 3 or 4 weeks, I genuinely wondered if he might be attempting to throw games intentionally due to some sort of gambling problem. Against the Packers he was ludicrous.

Tampa Bay elected no one. Should Morris be coach of the year then?

What are you saying? How can this award not go to Mike Singeltary?

Oooh, darn, that whole fired last Sunday probably cost him votes.
