Mets Hire Terry Collins as Manager: The New York Mets have hired Terry Collins as the 20th manager in the history of the ballclub. Collins managed the Houston Astros from 1994-96 and the then-Anaheim Angels from 1997-99. The 61-year-old addressed concerns about reports he left the Angels due to a player revolt. "I'm not the evil devil that a lot of people made me out to be," Collins said. "I learned to mellow a little bit."
