Hawkins gets the hook at CU: with a cumulative 19-39 record and no winning seasons since joining the Buffs in 2005, head football coach Dan Hawkins was finally handed his walking papers. The last straw came on Saturday when the Buffs blew a 28 point lead over the Jayhawks, giving up 35 points in the final 11 minutes of the game.

Best line of the whole sorry affair: "In a statement, Dan Hawkins said, "My biggest pain comes from not being able to see the joy and happiness on our players faces on more occasions following a victory.""

I'll just bet it does.

A wing nut in Boulder almost from day one.

Coaching jobs are opening up in rapid, head-spinning succession.

Wonder if this means that Tom Cable is becoming a hot commodity.

I had forgotten that epic "go play intramurals, brother!" rant. Now I'm sad Hawkins is gone.

Be double sad if he shows up in Dallas looking for work.

Yeah, he was one expensive mistake on CU's part. They'll be paying the price for that little adventure for years to come.

As a KU fan, let me state it clearly: ANY coach who loses to Gill's crew this year needs to be fired IMMEDIATELY. They are terrible. The fact they lost it like they did only further demonstrates that he had to go.

I wonder if KU dedicated their win over Hollerin' Hawkins as a tribute to their former coach Mark Mangino?

beaver,

that was a tough moment for KU fans. That said, overall I liked Mangino, & wish he was still @ Kansas.
