Fired Joe Morgan: ESPN has declined to renew Joe Morgan's contract, officially ending his 20-year partnership with Jon Miller in the broadcast booth. Is Dan Shulman next in line?

In my excitement to post, I failed to note that Jon Miller will be leaving the television broadcast as well, although he's been offered the radio broadcast.

Hate to see Jon Miller go, as he is a much better than average play-by-play announcer, but his role at ESPN seemed to be that of straight man to Morgan. I guess even Miller could not make Morgan seem the least bit intelligent about baseball analysis.

In honor of Joe, they should leave his seat vacant.

Just like his modern baseball knowledge?

Bring on Dan Shulman!

Excited to have Morgan gone, but I don't know why they would get rid of Miller who's as good as anyone around.

I will miss Jon Miller's play-by-play more than I ever wanted Joe Morgan gone. (not sure that makes sense. oh well.) Boo this move.

Now we can concentrate our efforts on getting FOX to get rid of Tim McCarver

I had little idea who this Joe Morgan person was, so I went and youtubed him in the hope of hearing for myself if he really was as bad as made out.

The first video I found had Morgan opining that walking the lead off hitter was more dangerous than walking someone with two outs.

So that would be a "yes" then.

What did I hear someone say? Joe Morgan is a baseball expert. As long as that field is limited to Joe Morgan.

I though Jon Miller was great so that's a big "uncool" to ESPN for getting rid of him.

Miller's not going to be kept idle: he has his gig with the Giants, and frankly, he's always been better on radio (but baseball, like cricket, is better on radio).

Or to watch with the TV sound off and the radio on.

yet they keep Matt "the rapist of detroit" Millen ? plus force everyone in Michigan to endure him during UM games? can't they at least assign him to west coast games or some conference other than Big Ten?

PLEASE ESPN
