Pompey are down, and the Baggies are up.

And ManU blew a lovely opportunity, 0-0, with Blackburn.

Congratulations to the Boston College Eagles for winning the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship by defeating the Wisconsin Badgers 5-0 last night. It's nice to see the championship trophy remain with a Hockey East school, although I'd really like to see it migrate from Commonwealth Ave. (BU/BC) to Huntington Ave. (Northeastern) some day. Congratulations are also due to this year's Hobey Baker award winner, Blake Geoffrion. If there is any such thing as hockey bloodlines, this kid has them. Great-grandfather Howie Morenz, Montreal Canadiens, Hockey Hall of Fame; grandfather Bernie 'Boom-Boom' Geoffrion, Montreal Canadiens, Hockey Hall of Fame; father Danny Geoffrion, Montreal and Winnipeg. Blake has been drafted by the Nashville Predators, but if he does not put on the 'Bleu-Blanc-et-Rouge" of Canadiens, it is sacrilege.

Pompey are down, but they aren't going quietly: they reach the FA Cup final with a 2-0 win over Tottenham.

Too bad for Evander Kane he's only 18. The city of Boston wants to buy him a beer. Named after Evander Holyfield, indeed.

Anthony Kim is making one hell of a late charge at the Masters. Kid's gonna shoot 62 this round if he keeps it up.

I only caught a little bit of the Miami-BC game, but with 22 goals in the three games in the Frozen Four, were the goal scorers just that good or the goalies that bad?

posted by bender at 05:53 PM on April 11, 2010

In the case of Miami, the goaltenders (ranked #1 and 2 statistically) were pretty bad, but the guys in front of them didn't help much, either. BC was just an offensive buzz saw.

A wild finish to the NHL regular season today. 4 games today decide playoff matchups, and 3 of those have already gone to an extra session or shootout. The 4th game is currently tied 1-1 after 2 periods.

I'll be posting a playoff pickem thread in the Lockerroom after the Devils and Sabres settle the matchups for us. Get your picks in...

Eagles fans will probably enjoy this video of Texas Stadium's implosion this morning.

Knocked. The. Fuck. Out.

The best part about that is that Cooke started the whole thing by running Kane from behind into the boards, so there isn't any bitching about Cooke being picked on.

Fuck Matt Cooke. Hopefully Todd Bertuzzi is next on Kane's list.

Yay for Hank Sedin. First Canuck to get the Art Ross, most points by a Canuck ever in a season, 14 more assists than the next closest player. And gets his 112th point with a totally sick finish from Daniel.

To hell with the beer, Bruins need to trade for him TODAY!

A photographer caught that punch just perfectly (if you're a Cooke hater) too. It's freaking iconic. I can see your molars!

Great picture. That'll be on a billboard in Boston soon.
