Butler Advances to National Championship: The Bulldogs defeated Michigan State 52-50 on Saturday night, surviving a second half in which they only shot 24%. They move on to the national championship on Monday evening against the winner of the Duke-West Virginia game tonight. They'll get to play another game in the friendly confines of the Lucas Oil Stadium, a mere 6.4 miles and one turn from their home fieldhouse.

Earlier this week in the New York Times: Bobby Plump, member of the 1954 Milan team which won the Indiana state boys' high school basketball championship and served as the inspiration for Hoosiers, talks about Butler's run and the comparisons being made to both his actual high school team and the dramatized movie version. Plump played in college at Butler.

Looks like they'll be playing Duke, too. The epitome of the "mid-major" versus the epitome of the establishment for all the marbles.

After seeing Michigan State snatch victory from the jaws of defeat for the past two weeks it was incredibly satisfying to watch Butler pull it out. Here is to hoping they can take down Duke tomorrow night. Of course, they'll have to play a lot better than they did last night to do that. Duke won't make the same myriad of mistakes that Michigan State did.

No disrespect against Butler, but they're going to get trampled shooting 24% against Duke.
