Bucs Go All Out for Throwback Game to Honor Selmon: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers revived Bucko Bruce and their "creamsicle" uniforms for a throwback game Sunday in which Hall of Fame linebacker Lee Roy Selmon was inducted into the team's ring of honor. They decked out Raymond James Stadium in orange and brought back the old Swashbuckler cheerleader uniforms. Thousands of fans showed up in their old orange gear.

I love the creamsicle. Maybe it is nostalgia for my childhood, but I just like the bright colors. I need very little excuse to bring out my old Selmon jersey. Plus, the orange must be good luck. They won. They have to do this more often.

Congrats to Selmon on being inducted into the Bucs Ring of Honor. I assume that he is the first entry.

I always liked the creamsicle jersey. Way cool.

I never thought the Bucs looked bad in their original unis. Maybe the helmet could have used a little redesign, but in general, they looked sharp. Obviously, some people disagree, because there has been a lot of criticism of the orange.

The thing I thought was weird was them being in the old Central Division and having to go play way up north every year. Seeing a warm weather team skating around on the frozen turf at Lambeau and Soldier Field late in the year always looked hopeless and surreal.

Good on the Bucs for bringing back the look first made famous by an 0-14 team and then getting their first win of the year.

much like the baby blue baseball unis of the 70's & 80's and the sea-foam green bride's maids dresses my mom made her friends wear at her wedding, the creamsicle unis should only be seen in pictures on occasions where you really feel the need to embarrass the person wearing them.

In fact looking back at the creamsicle uni's, or my father's blue prom tux or my uncle's bell bottoms, I have to wonder why my parent's generation thinks they are some how qualified to pass judgment on the attire of my generation? Now if only someone could explain to my generation what a belt was meant for....

Demo, people my age grew up in a simpler, more hopeful time I guess, without Mortal Kombat, Transformers, Darth Vader football helmet visors and mean looking unis that you can't tell if they're getting dirty during a game or not.

A belt serves two time-honored and useful functions.

I would say that it has done heroic duty as a public butt crack preventative.

My daddy would say that a good belt should be smooth so you can slip it off easily in case you have to impart some sense to a young 'un.

I can see where a belt would be a bad thing today, because we have become muffin top nation, evidently. My toppin' is mostly age and gravity-related, so I'm keeping my belt right where it is.

I love the old Bucs uniforms and the sadly demolished Big Sombrero. That color scheme burns in to your retina.

The new Buc uniforms are some of the only updated ones I actually like better than the throwbacks. The gold helmets they use now, with the flag, skull, and swords, is much better than the old Pirate logo, who reminded me more of a local theatre actor in costume. Also, although orange is my favorite color, the old Tampa uniforms just remind me of losing and futility, for the most part.

You mean it's not supposed to hold your giant-ass jeans up just above your knees?

It's ironic how the throwback uniforms remind us of how much more watchable the NFL was back then.

Fear the 'sicle.... or maybe question the swashbuckler on the side of the helmets sexual orientation (with a sinful grin has a knife between his lips, a dainty feather in his cap, a slight but noticeable wink)...not that there's anything wrong with that. Just sayin'.

How did you ever survive? The horror!!

One of my favorite Bucs tales of old: when the interceptions started piling up for Testaverde, he finally came out with an explanation and told the press that he had trouble distinguishing between the colors of the uniforms of his team and the opposing team.

Vinnie! What the heck? There were only three other orange teams in the league back then. None of them in the same division, and all of them in the AFC.

Plus, he'd been togged out in orange with a white helmet his whole time at Miami, so uniform colors should have been the least of his issues when he went pro.

And then when he leaves Tampa Bay, he goes to orange (and brown) Cleveland.

I guess when Vinnie went to the Jets, his agent put language in his contract stating that he wouldn't have to suit up if they played Michigan State.

I know that this isn't sports related, but after having the conversation about the differences in views of generations, I thought that this was amusing.

That was supposed to be a link to today's (11/11) Dilbert comic, not sure what I did wrong. Sorry
