Russian Billionaire Reaches Deal to Buy Nets: Russian billionaire Mikhail D. Prokhorov has signed a $200 million deal to become the principal owner of the New Jersey Nets and an investor in the team's arena planned in Brooklyn. Prokhorov, 44, is an industrialist with a net worth of $9.5 billion who is 6 foot 8 inches tall. According to a translation of his blog, one of Prokhorov's goals is that "Russia will receive an equal place in the elite world of basketball."

That's a GREAT name for a team!

And is his height really relevant? I mean I'm that height, but have slightly less in my bank account.

I mentioned it because he's telling people he can dunk.

I'd rather see Brooklyn Lokomotiv, Juan.

His height will come in handy when he's going mano a mano with Mark Cuban at Mavs-Netskys games.

Cuban will probably win the prize when it comes to boris, yeltsin courtside behavior, though.

It's hard to top the Cuban Muzzle Crisis at his own game.

If his Netskys happen to look sluggish during a game, Prokhorov can always urge them on with a classic cheer from the Soviet days:

GENNADY GERASIMOV !

Ah, the oligarchs are coming. So that means it's only six years until the Nets are banned from all trades and draft picks.

I wonder if Guus Hiddink is a good basketball coach.

Keep them out of Brooklyn. I don't care who owns them.
