Joey Barton's red card to be his last act for Newcastle United: Barton, playing his first game since fracturing a foot in January, will be suspended for Newcastle's final three games of the season at home to Middlesbrough and Fulham and away at Aston Villa. He will also be fined two weeks' wages – £128,000 – by the club.

If they really wanted to punish him they should make him stay.

I'm sure Derby are already making an offer for him to join Robbie Savage in our midfield.

(Why, oh why do you punish me?)

Robbie and Joey in midfield - might as well just start with nine men.

Maybe you can get some money off if you take Alan Smith as well, Owl.

Given his past problems with red cards and anger management I was more than a bit surprised that NU took him on in the first place. Unless this incident finally triggers change Barton does not belong in the Premier League.

Alan Smith was immense in Pro Evo 5. That is all.
Also, kudos for the bid to reclaim the 'football' category.

This thug doesn't belong in football, not just the Premiership.
