SpoFi NHL Fantasy League (FFS): After the first month, some familiar faces at the top, and some curious goings-on on the bottom.

First of all, thanks to my blatant and wholesale broad-daylight theft of DrJohnEvans' code, here are the standings after Month One of the season:

Team Points   Waiver   # of Moves
Revenge-a-licious (grum) 148 15 9
Jagr Is A Tranny (WeedyMcsmokey)   146 16 5
Toothless Grin (willthrill72) 145 12 7
Fromage en Crottes (qbert72) 133 19 7
TwitchyTriggerFinger (garfield) 127.5 18 13
Brass Bonanza (YukonGold) 125 11 4
TBD (goddam) 124.5 3 4
BhawksDown (skydivedad) 124 13 22
Boarding School (wingnut4life) 122.58 2
Cherry Pickers (spitztengle) 121 4 3
Barrie Platypuses (wfrazerjr) 117 5 2
Crap City Craphawks (gspm) 104 10 3
McSorley's Sawdust (BullpenPro) 102.5 1 2
NY Golden Blades (chicobangs) 99.5 7 4
Les Coupes Longueuil (Succa) 86.5 17 6
Puttin' on the foil! (cabuki) 80 2 1
Saskatoon Swordfish (HATER187) 79.5 6 -
ClevelandRobberBaron (ajaffe) 78.5 9 -
Pullet Tartare (The Black Hand) 26 14 9
Now, grum, Weedy and garfield in the top half of the ladder is no surprise, and I have a scapegoat for my low standing in the slumping (until this week) Jason Spezza. But I am curious to know what's going on with Mister Hand. This time last year, Pullet Tartare was right in the thick of things, and had made so many moves I had it in mind to hand out a Pullet Surprise this year to the team who made the most moves. (skydivedad, you're a front-runner for that one.) What gives, Blackie?

Now, grum, Weedy and garfield in the top half of the ladder is no surprise Well, to be fair, qbert is no surprise either, having won the frigging thing last year. And the scary part about that Tranny Jagr is that Datsyuk only recently has been going and Zidlicky has been pure shit. I suspect that will not continue. In the other pool, I'm getting killed.

I meant to include qbert in that best-of list. I was just overfocused on getting that table to render right. (In the other pool, I'm sucking slightly less.)

Figures, you publish the table on my worst day. I'm shocked at my rookie luck and only hope it can continue (and improve). Kiprusoff hasn't been as dominant as I expected and I really wish I could take back sending Ehroff to waivers (I don't know if I did that by accident but he's done everything I thought he wouldn't if it wasn't). Everyone below me should be ashamed though.

qbert is no surprise either Shhh. I like it under the radar. And I'm actually one bad day away from 11th place (there's quite a pack just behind me). Things I dislike: * People abandoning their team in the first month (ajaffe, HATER187) * People playing to lose (The Black Hand) Things I like: * garfield getting his waiver-wire mad ass handed to him by skydivedad. The 100 moves mark will be topped for sure.

People abandoning their team in the first month I am back. I was evicted and had my internet and cable turned off because I stayed in my last apartment without paying rent. Now I am in a place where I have full access to the world wide internet.

I knew you weren't gone, Hater. I'm glad you've moved and are now wired again. And I know for a fact that ajaffe hasn't abandoned his team either. For what it's worth.

I stand corrected, then. Welcome back, Hater! How about getting yourself some goalies that are actually playing in the NHL?

I believe willthrill72 had a strong showing in the Playoff pick'em too. qbert, EPL is responsible for me calming down when it comes to waivers. I don't know how I have 13 moves already because I have practically the same team I started with. SDD is out of control, though. I like it.

(skydivedad, you're a front-runner for that one.) Loving the irony there.

Yeah, I have been pretty screwed on the goaltending front. I also didn't have Gionta dressed when he went on that tear earlier this month.

I suck. I'm only ahead of two guys that haven't made a move all season and a guy who appears to be gunning for the Costanza.

I highly doubt I'll be anywhere close to the maximum moves allowed so you can hold off giving that award to me for now and let's see where everyone lands at the end of the season. This is a great league and I'm banging my head against the wall trying to make some headway toward the top teams. I am surprised with the lack of trades from the prior discussions concerning the trading block and all the trading action I heard about in this league from last season but it's still early. Anyway chico thanks for the update.

Oh, look! I'm on top. Again. Don't you guys EVER get tired of eating my dust?

Look out! Grum's breakin' out the shit talk.

posted by willthrill72 at 08:31 AM on November 02, 2006

Pfft. He won't talk so tough, when Turco comes back down to earth, along with the rest of that overacheiving Dallas team. Ya hear me, grum?!? Yer a bum!! A bum!! Go back to Joisey, ya Lincoln Tunnel Trash!!

Remember, grum, this is a marathon. Not a sprint. Hear that? *click-clack*
That would be me *click-clack* breathing down your neck, just waiting for you to step in dog shit. Foolish mortals! I will bed you all before the night is through! Moo-hoo-hah-hah!

*click-clack* Are we in one of those Under Armour ads?

posted by YukonGold at 07:05 PM on November 03, 2006

Sorry, shameless plug. I do find those commercials sorta tacky, though.

Do ice skates make *click-clack* noises?

I don't know, TBH. Can you hear *click-clack* from last place? ouch!
