Editing: Does anyone other than me think there is a bit to much when you read comments and cannot find the original statement it refers to? Please edit both if you do one. I have written some comments and they have been edited out, for whatever reason it was determined, but it was never out of color as so many others I seen have been. I live in Thailand and don't always get the latest news, so if I ask a question about Cuba's not being able to contribute $ to Katrina, it's edited and I feel like I'm a fool for asking. I respect the contributors here like Weedy, TBH and others who have the access and time to read all they do, some of us can't. Just curious what some others think.

If I understand your question, and correct me if I'm wrong, you would like the mods to either: A. Not delete as many comments. or B. IF they do delete a comment, to delete any following comment that may mention the "original" deleted comment. Not happening. And I'll tell you why: A. If the mods didn't delete as many comments, they wouldn't exactly be moderating would they? Most members on this site aren't known for discussing a subject in a civil fashion (myself included). and B. Babysitting a single thread on the off chance someone will make a remark about a comment that no longer exists is too much work, and is more likely to result in other threads turning apeshit. My advice: Don't take deletions personally. If, as you said, you do not believe your comment was inflammatory e-mail the PANTHEON and politely ask why your comment was deleted and link them to the thread in question. Theres no need to start a locker room thread like this if you haven't done this already.

And furthermore, if at anytime in a thread you don't have the information to follow along with the discussion you can ask for links in order to better understand the issue at hand. Thats part of what this site is all about, engendering good discussion about sports.

Editing: Does anyone other than me think there is a bit to much when you read comments and cannot find the original statement it refers to? Not really. If a comment is referring to something that's no longer there, I may puzzle for half a second, but I realize that the deleted comment wasn't worth my time, and I get over it. If given the choice between complete comment comprehension and quality content, I'd pick quality content every time.

lilnemo Obviously, I have never started a "thread" like this before. I have never heard of PANTHEON before but will check to see why someone here could not answer. Thanks for your quick reply. I imagine any further posts to this will be deleted

I wouldn't worry too much about Wells. Molina and Rios hit dingers against Johan Santana in the season opener, and I hear his stuff is okay. On second thought, maybe you shold worry about the other four innings he pitched.

I was your groupy jerseygirl until you removed me from your profile. Now I cry in my sleep and have horrible dreams. Thanks a lot.

Y'kniw, chris2sy, Molina does bear a passing resemblance to the one on the right, but he probably does not run the bases nearly as well.

YYM, the correct spelling is "groupie." Don't make me tell you again, or I'll park your sorry ass on an aircraft filled with vipers.

We're going to add a deleted comments bin so people can find an original comment, either to figure out why it was deleted or grab the text of their own comment for publication elsewhere. Editing a chain of comments to remove references to a deleted comment is a pain in the ass. It's also a bit obnoxious, since you end up bowdlerizing comments by users who are good contributors to this site.

bowdlerize BODE-luh-rise; BOWD-, transitive verb: 1. To remove or modify the parts (of a book, for example) considered offensive. 2. To modify, as by shortening, simplifying, or distorting in style or content. This will be on our final exam.
