So are they trying to say there's something shitty about LFO? I think there's at least a few people who'd take issue with that.

Poor song choice, either way. Best part is when he skips ahead to an even shittier song.

Here's a forum dedicated to sabermetrics. Back in the old Baseball Boards days, this forum was a big deal. From what I've heard anyway.

Penn Gillette is supposedly an expert juggler. I've seen him do routines on different stand-up shows... And yerfatma, I laughed till I heard Saliva...then I got very angry...

Nice link dusted. I actually think that is a FPP worthy link. For as much as we like to slag on professional athletes on our front page, this would be a nice counterbalance.

posted by NoMich at 12:14 PM on March 16

Well shuckydarn.... Thanks yerfatma, must be my browser as useing the link button leaves nothing in the comment box. shame too cause I had a great article on Americas oldest baseball park (Rickwood Field) where a recent Negro League reunion was held. Willie Mays etal in attendance.

Agreed on dusted's link for the front page. And Folkways' clip would be even funnier if it were real.

The winning OT goal last night in the Oilers-Flames match was set up beautifully with a hard bodycheck delivered by a broken stick laying on the ice that took out two Flames defenders (wmv link, shuttle ahead to 1:40).

gspm -- thanks, that's pretty incredible. Interesting that in all of the replays, the announcers were so fixated on Samsonov's stickhandling that they didn't even mention the broken stick.

Knowing there are quite a few dedicated SpoFites in the Detroit area, I feel obliged to remind you that the Baseball Hall of Fame's travelling exhibit "Baseball As America" is making its final stop at the Henry Ford Museum. (I have to concede the "obligation" could be construed as ego and blatant self-promotion since I worked on the exhibit, but despite my efforts it really is a great show. The stuff I did was crap, but easy to overlook.)

posted by BullpenPro at 12:11 PM on March 24

Sounds interesting, I might go if I have time. It would be nice if you could tell me what you worked on just to see the work of somebody I (kind of, sort of) know.

posted by Ying Yang Mafia at 03:28 PM on March 24

I worked with the video production team on the video and multi-media exhibits. Please don't go to see my stuff -- go to see the exhibit. It's the best thing I've ever seen in a museum, my garbage notwithstanding. I wouldn't have mentioned my connection to the exhibit at all, but the URL on my profile links to my totally lame company site, through which my affiliation is apparent. I don't want to appear to be trying to hide any agenda -- I stand to gain nothing from greater attendance at this exhibit, save the satisfaction of knowing that I was part of something popular as well as wicked cool.

posted by BullpenPro at 04:33 PM on March 24

...somebody I (kind of, sort of) know... Just be careful, ok? Beware of online predators... I'm kind of interested in heading up there, also. I might just have to pack the whole fam damily up for a field trip.

posted by wingnut4life at 05:23 PM on March 24

I read your profile and, dude ... Derek Jeter isn't even the best shortstop on his team. I'm interested to see this also, and I have a cousin who quarterback at Cornell in the 1980s. So there.

posted by wfrazerjr at 06:03 PM on March 24

I've mentioned that to him as well but he sort of ignored me... By the way, take a look at DrJohnEvans' profile, he added a chat thing that is really cool.

posted by Ying Yang Mafia at 06:06 PM on March 24

YYM -- I didn't ignore you. I was so irate I threw my computer out the window. Just because you didn't see it doesn't mean I didn't respond. WFJ -- as a new dad, you have a lot on your shoulders now. You need to behave responsibly. This does not include provoking people who are clearly irrational and unstable. As for your cousin... '80s Cornell QB, huh? Next time he gets a colonoscopy, could you have them check to see if Greg Manusky's cleat is still in there. He would like it back. (Maybe you know Cornell beat Colgate in the ECAC hockey tourney semi-finals last Friday -- you are just pushing ALL my buttons...) So much abuse... no good deed goes unpunished. Reminds me of a story. For a Baseball As America display on different pitch grips, the HOF used my hands for example images (I was the closest thing they could find to an actual pitcher... which, I know, sounds absurd... they're the Hall of Freakin' Fame... but Cooperstown is kind of remote, even for Hall of Famers). For the unveiling of the exhibit, the Hall had an invite-only event that included all the living HOFers. I happened to be standing behind Phil Neikro when he saw the grip display and immediately exclaimed, "That is the worst knuckleball I have ever seen. Who holds a ball like that?" Worst knuckleball ever. So I got that going for me. Which is nice.

posted by Ying Yang Mafia at 05:24 PM on March 29

No kidding. Glimpse of a nipple sends the country into an extended tizzy. That streaker could be a WMD if it happened on American soil. Anyways, I read an interesting profile of Johnny Damon starting things up with the Yankees but a) can't quite figure out how it'd be an interesting FPP and b) Red Sox & Yankees will probably gets loads of threads on the site without something lacking any sort of a hook.
