Super Sunday : has finished (almost) in Dubai - Tiger beat Ernie in a playoff, a sheikh got the shakes over a hundred foot putt, and I heard a great story about what the Queen really thinks of Nick Faldo [more inside].

I (sort of) promised some on-the-spot column action from the Dubai Desert Classic this week, and maybe even an interview with a tour caddy, but sadly all I have for you (for now) is a weak excuse - I'm exhausted, it's gone eleven, and I have a breakfast meeting in the morning that I haven't prepared for yet. All right, three weak excuses. I will write up the full tale of this weekend (including an evening out with a couple of tour caddies) at some point in the near future, but for tonight I'm afraid you'll have to make do with knowing that I had a great time, the course, tournament and city in general was superb, and (according to David Howell) the Queen thinks Nick Faldo's a cu*t.

JJ, I've been dying to ask if you happened to run into Bode Miller while you were down there. Or maybe ... I'm putting 2 and 2 together here ... could it be that this "JJ" is just a pseudonym for Bode Miller? Nah. Couldn't be.

There was a guy in the clubhouse last night who was getting a lot of attention (and drinking a lot of Corona) who I thought might have been him, but to be honest I'm not sure I'd recognise him if he walked into the room I'm sitting in right now. That said, I asked around and no one knew who this guy was and I'm guessing someone would have done had it been him. There was another guy there who looked like Captain Chaos from the Cannonball Run (wearing the cap and everything). That was funny on its own, but when the sheikh walked past him, I nearly had an aneurysm laughing.
