SpoFi CD Swap Round Two.: I've been a bit derelict on doing it, but now that we're all post holidaze and well enough into 2k5, who all is in for round two? (MI)

If you were a participant in Round 1 and your addy hasn't changed, then just let me know you're in again. If you weren't last time around and want to be, hit me up with your info at the e-mail in my profile and I'll get you in. Additionally, even though my group was perfect last time around, I know not all of them were. This is a good opp. to let me know who rescinded last time so I can blackball them in this swap. I have no love for those that don't reciprocate.

I'll go for it this time, though you'll have to excuse my rather eclectic tastes.

I'm in. I've been downloading quite a bit of '60's psych lately and I can't wait to inflict it on somebody else. My favorite of the bunch is the Bonzo Dog Band. Vaudevill e on the finest Owsley acid.

i'm in. although, this time its less accessible music for the lot of ya.

i'm in.

Count me in...

I totally bailed on the last swap, and won't be participating in this one.

posted by rocketman at 12:08 PM on January 13, 2005

I can't remember who didn't contribute last time, perhaps they should fess up. I'm in anyway.

posted by Fat Buddha at 12:24 PM on January 13, 2005

I cant remember if I sent mine out late or not. I was right in the middle of moving and legal stuff involved with moving. If I didn't, let me know, and I will send you a mix. As for this time around, I am afraid I cannot do it. I'd still like to see what people make up though.

posted by jasonspaceman at 12:52 PM on January 13, 2005

ya, i was looking forward to your funk, rocketman. goddam, vito, FB, looking forward to another.

posted by garfield at 01:01 PM on January 13, 2005

Not all is lost. I'll try to dig up everyone's address (thank you gmail!) and send the disc.

posted by rocketman at 01:36 PM on January 13, 2005

Alright, you got me, the pressure! Yeah, I'm fessing up. I can't fully participate until I send goddam (and someone else? I remember there being two people) her disc, which means she has two coming from me this time around. Never said I didn't suck. I know I do. But I'm trying. (Often very trying.)

posted by chicobangs at 02:07 PM on January 13, 2005

I will try to aggregate some non-Springsteen music this time out, so count me in.

posted by billsaysthis at 02:48 PM on January 13, 2005

How many people are we talking about? I've got a good funk compilation to share...

posted by lil_brown_bat at 05:31 PM on January 13, 2005

oh, so we've decided to share this time? :-)

posted by goddam at 05:56 PM on January 13, 2005

cat fight! or not I'll put together a mix and participate if people don't mind grabbing the mix from me via, say, yousendit.com or some such (a torrent or something?). i mean i like the idea of participating but thinking of my poverty vs postage and raw materials and whatnot makes me think I should pass if participating requires me to spend money on postage and raw materials and whatnot (which may not be a heckuva lot in the end but corners, meet scissors).

posted by gspm at 06:13 PM on January 13, 2005

There are simple ways if we want to let as many other SpoFites get whichever mixes they desire, using one or more free online storage sites.

posted by billsaysthis at 06:51 PM on January 13, 2005

not a bad idea bill. but if we do that i would still prefer to keep it to the amount of songs that can fit on an audio cd, not just a shitload of mp3s.

posted by goddam at 07:46 PM on January 13, 2005

yeah, i have exchanged mixes to fit on a cd in an electronic format. have no fear, if i participate it will be the whole deal - properly constructed mix plus cover and liner notes.

posted by gspm at 08:09 PM on January 13, 2005

That sounds pretty cool bill. I would enjoy that.

posted by NoMich at 08:28 PM on January 13, 2005

I'm just thinking that sending out eight or a dozen CDs is probably a bit much, compared to the three each of us agreed to initially in the first round. But anyone who wants to send out CDs is no problem either.

posted by billsaysthis at 12:11 AM on January 14, 2005

goddam: oh, so we've decided to share this time? :-) I still think I'm right about that. Fess up, what were you going to send, your Barry Manilow collection? What have you got that beats Parliament and Rufus?

posted by lil_brown_bat at 06:11 AM on January 14, 2005

I've got an album by a band called 'My friend the chocolate cake', which has to be my favourite band name of all time. Shame the album isn't very good though.

posted by BigCalm at 07:14 AM on January 14, 2005

What have you got that beats Parliament and Rufus? Parliament is great, but Eddie Bo is for the children.

posted by rocketman at 07:22 AM on January 14, 2005

This sounds interesting, I'm in. So, how's this work?

posted by trox at 08:14 AM on January 14, 2005

Parliament is great, but Eddie Bo is for the children. Non sequitur? i'm not getting the connection...

posted by lil_brown_bat at 08:36 AM on January 14, 2005

When Puffy won a Grammy award that Wu-Tang Clan was also nominated for, ODB stormed the stage and uttered the famous line: "Puffy is great, but Wu-Tang is for the children." So I'm just saying, you know, Parliament is great, but...

posted by rocketman at 08:45 AM on January 14, 2005

Parliament is great, but... ...but, AFAIK, Eddie Bo has no connection with Parliament. (sorry I'm being so slow on this joke)

posted by lil_brown_bat at 09:09 AM on January 14, 2005

Eddie Bo is also a funk musician, from New Orleans. What I'm saying is that he is better than Parliament.

posted by rocketman at 09:54 AM on January 14, 2005

You can disagree, but you'd be wrong.

posted by rocketman at 09:55 AM on January 14, 2005

This sounds interesting, I'm in. So, how's this work? I'll probably leave this open through the weekend and get more serious about it on Monday (just to leave some more face-time for people to get in) but: E-mail me your street address, proper name, and SpoFi ID. Depending on how many we have in, I'll then whip you back 3-6 other people that you're responsible for sending swaps too. Make a master CD, burn copies for all 3-6 folks in your group, post 'em off, and wait oh so patiently for theirs to arrive in your mailbox. So far, I believe we have: BigCalm NoMich garfield goddam vito90 FatBuddha billsaysthis lil brown bat gspm (with noted exception of d/ling it yourself) trox ufez chico, I can't really tell if you're in this time or not?

lbb, I posted the track lists for the first round, at least for the sets people sent me. Taste is a subjective matter but I was more than happy with the CD goddam sent me.

posted by billsaysthis at 02:24 PM on January 14, 2005

I'll jump in on this one...with one request. I don't know yet what I'll put on it, but please don't psycho-analyze my music tastes. I usually lean toward dark music, and I've had people tell me my mix CDs sound like a cry for help...

posted by MeatSaber at 03:02 PM on January 14, 2005

thanks bill. i managed to get some bootsy and rufus on there last time. oh wait, you meant this rufus didn't you.

posted by goddam at 03:04 PM on January 14, 2005

I'm in, Ufez, I'm in. goddam gets a special gift from me is all.

i see there's a nyc meta gathering coming up next month. maybe i'll make an appearance and save you some postage.

oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh!

lbb, I posted the track lists for the first round, at least for the sets people sent me. Taste is a subjective matter but I was more than happy with the CD goddam sent me. It contains Bootsy Collins. That's all that need be said.

posted by lil_brown_bat at 09:30 PM on January 14, 2005

I'm in. A warning though, I'm a bit of a music geek, so there might be 12 songs nobody's ever heard of on there. Hope that's ok.

What the hell, count me in. Although the last time I sent a CD to the US it arrived in Arkansas smashed into a million pieces.

posted by DrJohnEvans at 03:11 PM on January 17, 2005

the war on terror chalks up another success! 'cause you know, if you burn a song onto a cd then you are helping terrorism.

I'm in again. Last time was great.
