SportsFilter is outgrowing our present hosting situation, so we've decided to upgrade to a dedicated Linux server. We've added text ads and a server donation page to raise enough revenue for this site to meet expenses.

This isn't a sign of desperation -- the founders of this site are committed to moving to the new server and continuing to fund the site as needed. Since the new server will cost an estimated $100/month in hosting expenses, it's a good time to start looking at ways to make the community pay for itself as it grows. It's also a good time to mention that Touchdown Jesus watches over this site, so if you're looking to get on his good side for some reason ...

eek. I'll renew my paypal account and give you some money. Can you fiddle with the margins on the front page now that we've got google-ads?

Does clicking on the ads help?

Any chance you can set up an Amazon.com donation link as well? I'm not a PayPal fan.

The donation link is an Amazon Honor System box already. Please only click on an ad if you're legitimately interested in it.

Man, I hate paypal, many, many scary e mails. That Amazon link is marvelous. If I buy something from there via here, does that help? If so can you fix it so it works from Amazon UK as well?

We're not Amazon affiliates at the moment, but that's not a bad idea. After the move, we'll probably put a server fund page together with several options.

I'm going to go on the record here as having donated so that when my wife sees the charge on our credit card she won't think it's one of those legitimate-sounding porn charges.

I just donated, and you're welcome, Touchdown Jesus. The donation "goal" is a nice touch.

I donated, plus I'll buy Touchdown Jesus a beer next time he's in town just in case.

Can Touchdown Jesus get Developer Jesus to fix the margins and modify the ad coloring scheme to match our lovely orange and green?

The donation link is an Amazon Honor System box already Wow. My brain interpretted that link as a PayPal image and I had to double-check after you corrected me. Now I have no excuse not to donate.

What's the best way for a Brit who won't touch paypal with a bargepole to donate a small amount?

He's only kidding. This site will be hosted on ServerMatrix in Dallas, which has been highly recommended by several high-traffic publishers I know.

I've just made a tiny little donation. The size of my donation is in now way a reflection of the esteem in which I hold this site. Blame my stupid car. Good luck!

can we have a tally page? and a pony?

If the Lords of Sportsfilter are still reading this, the front page alignment is off- the login area is off-centered to the left overlapping some of the text. Using Windows XP w/ nightly Firefox build.

jmd82 - you need a new style sheet - control-refresh on mozilla or control-F5 for IE should sort this out for you.

The Posting as: and Comment: text at the bottom of each post page are in the left margin all by their lonesomes, I don't believe this is the desired result. On Preview: The (Your comment... line, buttons textarea and shortcuts lines are all flush with the left margin on the Preview page. I don't believe this is the desired result.
