Only one position change this week, but some underlying shifts which may lead to more telling changes in the coming weeks. pfuller continued his rocketing rise by climbing another 2 spots to #7 from #9, and exchanging places with Mossy. It's not surprising that pfuller is also the high scorer for the week with a blazing 123.47 pts. He is now hot on my heels, just 14 pts behind me. And on the strength of his performance, I'd have to be worried. But I'm not. I'm more concerned about breaking into the top 5. And it will happen this coming weekend! After a solid raking of the points, I am now just 0.46 pts behind Mr. "I'm barely hanging on to #5" trox. Yes, just half a point from making a breakthrough. Other close battles: #8 jasonbondshow v #9 Mossy - 4.53 pts separate the two. But Mossy appears to be on the slide, while jasonbondshow is in the ascendancy. #10 elsoltano v #11 Drood - the gap has closed from 20 pts last week to a slim 1.44 pts. #13 BigCalm v #14 eckeric - only 2.28 pts stand between these two, where last week stood a 15-pt gap. This is an all-out slugfest, folks, and these battlers trade blows and places every week. And, oh yeah, StarFucker is still #1.

A little bit of short-term memory loss setting in, StarFucker?

posted by worldcup2002 at 02:17 PM on February 10, 2003

No, i'm having problems with my network here at work... I keep getting timed out so i think i must have clicked twice... I hate that... But i DO like my extended lead....

posted by StarFucker at 02:22 PM on February 10, 2003

But i DO like my extended lead.... Is that what you're calling it now? Heh heh.

I have a cunning plan, the fucker is fucked.

The way my season has gone, ascendancy could be soon followed by a crash landing.

posted by jasonbondshow at 11:39 PM on February 10, 2003

A cunning stunt?! Hey guys, so what do i win when i win this whole thing? You guys should buy me a jersey or something...

posted by StarFucker at 08:27 AM on February 11, 2003

That would be a cool prize, Man U okay?

posted by corpse at 09:44 AM on February 11, 2003

We'll buy you a donkey called Emile.

posted by BigCalm at 10:14 AM on February 11, 2003

Man U is fine...i'll take Solskjaer's name and number...or Giggs.

posted by StarFucker at 10:38 AM on February 11, 2003

I'm not shelling out any money on StarFucker! Get lost!

posted by worldcup2002 at 02:08 AM on February 12, 2003

*GASP* But i thought all of you looked up to me as your hero!? Am i mistaken? Misinformed?! Have i been living a lie!?!

You are the wind beneath my wings.

Sooo, how many of you are going to ditch your lineup this week to fill up on WBA and Fulham players?

posted by eckeric at 09:15 AM on February 13, 2003

Well, it's a fantastic alternative to picking Heskey.

posted by BigCalm at 10:39 AM on February 13, 2003

I've got one midfielder and striker and defender in that game, nobody else. That should get me enough points to beat trox. Hahahaha.

posted by worldcup2002 at 11:42 AM on February 13, 2003

Say...what are you guys talking about?

posted by StarFucker at 12:08 PM on February 13, 2003

Erm, should we tell him, guys?

Nevermind, I just figured it out. So if we choose players for that game, do we get to change them again before the weekend?

posted by StarFucker at 12:20 PM on February 13, 2003

SF: YES. You can change your players at any time. All your selections by Friday of this week (tomorrow) will apply to the WBA v Fulham game only. If you make changes after this Friday, but before end of next Friday (Feb 21), those changes will be for next weekend's games (Feb 22-24).

posted by worldcup2002 at 01:11 PM on February 13, 2003

Nice...can i get this in writing so i know you guys aren't trying to make me lose points?

posted by StarFucker at 01:33 PM on February 13, 2003

Classic. LOL. You got another cartoon with an upright middle finger? Thanks for continuing to crack me up.

Bleeding Bloody Nora eckeric. THAT WAS MY CUNNING PLAN!!!!!

posted by Fat Buddha at 02:20 PM on February 13, 2003

I would think that the problem for those of you who knew what you were doing early on would be that you most likely have some good players that you got at a bargin. If you were to ditch them now, they might be too expensive later on. Mr. Ruud van Nistelrooy costs 30.41 this week. If you picked him up for much less, would it be worth it to drop him just to get some points this week, but then maybe not have enough points to bring him back the next? Luckly, I don't really have to worry about this too much. On preview: oops, sorry.

posted by eckeric at 02:36 PM on February 13, 2003

"On preview: oops, sorry." Huh?

posted by StarFucker at 03:37 PM on February 13, 2003

Oh, when I previewed my post, I saw Fat Buddhas post, and, you know, felt bad about messing up his plan and all. There is no coffee at work today, and I fear I may not be making much sense.

posted by eckeric at 03:45 PM on February 13, 2003

Not half as chuffing bad as I feel!

posted by Fat Buddha at 05:49 PM on February 13, 2003

Hahahahaha. You guys are like the Three Stooges. In a good way. Anyway, I think eckeric's finding is correct, which is why I only swapped out a few players (the lower-performing ones) and held on to the ultra-valuable players (picked up at bargain prices, now worth two or three times what I paid). But Buddha is right, eckeric messed up what might have been our one best chance to catch up with the fucker. On Saturday, we shall see if SF has changed his team or has decided to stay the course and ride out a "match-less" week. On Thursday, we shall see if the change-up strategy will pay off.

posted by worldcup2002 at 06:26 PM on February 13, 2003

Well i figured it out eventually before you guys replied...and i noticed right away when trying to pick up Fulham players that i might possibly not be able to get my good players back. I only made 2 changes. So it won't be matchless, but i don't think i'll get high score of the week...but then again... I picked up Sava and Boa Morte...

posted by StarFucker at 08:33 AM on February 14, 2003

Neither of whom could score in a barrel of fannies.

posted by Fat Buddha at 12:42 PM on February 14, 2003

Well well, look who just set himself up... I will laugh heartedly when Sava AND Boa Morte score against lowly West Brom. And i will make sure to point out this discussion.

I just tried to get all my old players back. Can't be done. I am stuck with rubbish.

posted by Fat Buddha at 06:41 AM on February 16, 2003

How many players did you trade? "barrel of fannies"?

posted by StarFucker at 11:27 AM on February 17, 2003

I traded all but Van Nistlerooy and Henry. Barrell of Fannies is a bit crude I am afraid. Of course we would not refer to an arse as a fanny, it is female genitalia.

posted by Fat Buddha at 01:00 PM on February 17, 2003

Holy shit! Why did you trade all your players!? Did you change them all for Fulham and West Brom players? If you did, i am afraid your title hopes are over my friend...just like Liverpool...

posted by StarFucker at 01:42 PM on February 17, 2003

SF said: I will laugh heartedly when Sava AND Boa Morte score against lowly West Brom. I will be astonished if Boa Morte scores - he's out with a hamstring injury! Hahahahahaha.

posted by worldcup2002 at 02:56 PM on February 18, 2003

DAMN! When did he do that!?!

posted by StarFucker at 03:16 PM on February 18, 2003

I knew that when he posted but kept shtum, if the dude had more grace I would have mentioned it.

posted by Fat Buddha at 01:13 PM on February 19, 2003

You can shove your grace up your chuffing barrel of fannies... I picked Boa Morte up before his injury. So what were you going to tell me? That you KNEW he was going to hurt his hamstring? With vision like that i am surprised you are doing so badly in the fantasy league.

posted by StarFucker at 01:49 PM on February 19, 2003

Starfucker, my choleric old chum, his hamstring was done before the weekend.

posted by Fat Buddha at 02:53 PM on February 19, 2003

I'm afraid not my acned, goatshank belly...Read here, If he was injured and not suspended for the FA Cup, don't you think they would have mentioned it? Anyway, i do not expect for anyone here to help me with injury updates. I am doing fine on my own. Good luck.

posted by StarFucker at 03:11 PM on February 19, 2003

I wish some chuffer had helped me: half those useless Fulham gits I swapped decent players for aren't even playing. Boa Morte is a lucky young man to be sitting out a suspension while he was injured anyway. I might just post updates on injuries now, just to annoy you. Van Nistlerooy and Henry are out for 3 and 4 weeks respectively, you better get rid of them old buddy.

posted by Fat Buddha at 03:15 PM on February 19, 2003

No way!! Are you sure?! I never had Henry...and i have only had Nistelrooy for the past month...if Henry is injured, that is GREAT news! Nistelrooy ain't been himself anyway so it'll be easy to offload his horsefaced ass...

posted by StarFucker at 03:23 PM on February 19, 2003

And where are you getting YOUR injury reports!? Nistelrooy just scored a few minutes ago! Are you predicting the future again?

posted by StarFucker at 03:39 PM on February 19, 2003

Aha! As soon as the standings are updated you will see that I have jumped into 5th place. I'm leaving you in my dust worldcup2002.
