OK, so... am I out of line in thinking that 'suck on my nuts until you choke' is just way out of line?

Specifically, singling out an individual as the target of something crass and unimaginative is what I object to here. Am I wrong?

Seemed like an inside joke or something. I would maybe object to it if GYC was offended. I dunno, it's one of those 'moments of passion.'

Tieguy, I'm a little concerned that you find that unimaginative. I think I need to date more.

gyc is an Illini fan. The antithesis of the Hoosier fan. I meant it in good fun, some Big Ten rivalry fun. It wasn't meant to be any more offensive than when a few buddies get together and tease each other about their favorite teams. If I offended you gyc, I apologize. You beat us in our homecoming game this year and this is my own special shot at redemption.

It really doesn't surprise me that a former Cameron dumbass was the one to bring this up. If GYC has a problem with it or I offended him, let him bring it up. If a sore loser who expected his media-favorite to win it all and is wrong brings it up, you too are invited to choke on the very same set of nuts.

heh. I want this place civil, because I want a place I can come to both after wins and after losses, and be treated with some respect and courtesy either way. Clearly, I misinterpreted ttrendel's intent, and for that I'm sorry. But if this place is going to slide into namecalling like every other unmoderated sports forum I've ever found, well, that sucks, and I will not apologize for calling out people who cross that line and who want to make this place just like all the other cesspools on the web. If people think that makes me a 'cameron dumbass', well, <shrug> I don't know what to say to that. Enjoy the win, I guess (IU certainly earned it), and enjoy the pleasure you get out of belittling others.

I also agree that comments of such sophomoric nature are out of line. I would hate to see this site devolve into a juvenile punks playground. There is much to enjoy in sports, whether your team wins or not. Lively discussion needn't include childish insults. I certainly wouldn't talk to a friend in such disparaging terms.

When a new member signs up he is confronted with this statement: We trust the members of the community and believe you will treat others with the respect you would afford yourself. Colorful debate is welcomed, but there is obviously a line where colorful becomes distasteful. Just remember that when it comes to such 'inside' jokes (regardless of their playful/harmless intent), others may be in the dark, and new members may take it as the norm, eventually bringing down the over all level of discussion, something I'm sure everyone here wants to avoid.

Cameron dumbass man, you just proved tieguy was right to bring this up. outta line.

Oh please, tieguy and the rest need to get over yourselves. This was just some joshing between rivals. Don't turn this place into MetaTalk, where every perceived slight/insult/out-of-line comment/un-PC statement/misunderstood joke/taken-out-of-context statement nets its own thread. Please. Don't let it happen here.

I think it's out of line. I don't want to have to analyze nut-sucking comments to figure out which ones are friendly inside jokes and which ones are bitter insults. If the victory of your favorite team makes you desire for another fan to commit a sexual or scatalogical act, please use e-mail. It's more intimate.

It's ok. It's easy to get overexcited especially after the agonizing last few moments of the game. Ironically, I was also cheering for the Hoosiers as it's always nice for the "overrated" Big 10 teams to do well in the tournament.

I'm with you tieguy. Even though people do and say outrageous things when they're swept up in the moment - the average browser will get put off by sportsfilter if that's one of the first comments they see.
