Mets' Wagner calls out teammates for ducking media Outspoken Mets closer Billy Wagner lashed out at truculent teammates Thursday for dodging reporters and ducking "being accountable" by failing to talk to the media. Wagner, who ripped his teammates earlier this season, caused the flap on Thursday when he questioned some players' failure to make themselves available to the media after the team's deflating 1-0 loss to Washington.

Relax! Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James now has mom as an enforcer Why was anyone ever worried about the hard fouls issued to LeBron James? Cleveland fans don't have to worry about James as long as his mom is in the house.

Maddux becomes ninth pitcher in MLB history to reach 350 wins Greg Maddux reached another milestone in his long, brilliant career. It might have meant more to a catcher making his big-league debut than it did to the pitcher with Hall of Fame credentials.

And then to try to make it a racist thing because it is some latin players...

Ummm, what?!!? Who made it a racist thing? Since the majority of the players on the Mets are of latin descent and a teammate criticizes the way the team is playing and that player isn't latin, that's not being racist. I'm Puerto Rican and I have absolutely no problem with what Billy Wagner had to say in the direction of Carlos Delgado. It was an honest response that should have been kept in-house but since there doesn't seem to be any realy leaders in that locker room, I'll have Wagner's back on this one.

Say It Ain't So, Chuckster A prosecutor says retired NBA star Charles Barkley will face felony charges if he fails to repay a $400,000 gambling debt to a Las Vegas Strip casino.

posted to Basketball at 12:32 PM CDT

$400,000? Dude, that's pocket change for Sir Charles. I'm sure that he'll re-pay those markers but com'on now, Barkely could probably piss away $400,000 in his sleep and not even toss over to get off of the wet spot.

Comment icon posted at 2:43 PM CDT on May 15

Do we really think Charles Barkley is worth that much?

With all the endorsements, businesses and also his side gig as color commentator for TNT, yeah, I think he's worth much more than you think. He'll be just fine.

Comment icon posted at 5:29 AM CDT on May 16

Reframing your argument, it could be that he does TNT and ads because he needs the money.

I doubt that. I think that he's on TNT because not only is he an entertaining individual but he's also one of the most respected and outspoken person that's involved in some aspect of the NBA.

A dazzling Manny being Manny moment I saw this on ESPN this morning and burst out laughing as soon as I saw the high-five. There are few players who could get away with doing something like that.

posted to Baseball at 11:18 AM CDT

I saw this play and I too was in amazement. I have never seen anything like what Manny did but I must admit, it was awesome!!! People make such a big deal about professional athletes getting paid millions of dollars but Manny is a classic example of a professional athlete that's just having fun out there.

Let's say he didn't get the ball back to the cut-off in time to double the runner off, then what. "Oh, sorry coach, I would've just thrown it back in but I had to high-five a cute guy in the stands."

Your completely missing the point since he did make the catch and also threw the ball to the cut off man who relayed the throw to 1st to catch the runner for the double play. It was a play that define Manny as being a free-spirited, spontaneous individual who loves the game and who also wants to entertain the fans and in that respect, Manny was very successful.

Sorry, but Ankiel had a genuine "great catch" for the Cardinals last night against the Pirates.

Umm, and did he also climb the wall and spur of the moment decide to high five a Cards fan? I'm by no means a Red Sox fan but by the name you're going by, I can tell that your opinion is baised. Ankeil has shown to be a pretty decent outfielder with an accurate arm but this post is not about just making a catch. Maybe you should re-read the post.

Call off the wolves....I figured I'd get attacked for not sucking Manny's nuts

I must have around 50 of his Topps rookie card because I got freaky obsessive over that year's cards

I'll trade you a Manny rookie card for a Barry Bonds rookie card that says Bobby Bonds on it, a lock of Jose Canseco's hair and a Roger Clemens "B-12" syringe signed my Brian McNamee. Interested?

I'm sorry but being a Celtics fan, I take great offense to this.....who am I kiddin'? That right there was outright hilarious. Even in jest, truth is being spoken, er...written. I just hope that the C's can actually win a road game against the Pistons as soon as we (why do we fans always use 'we' when speaking of our favorite team as if we're being called in off the bench?) knock off the Cavs.

If this were December-January, I'd be all "Bring on the Pistons", but right now I'm scared of having to sit through a slaughter.

I don't expect them to win it this year....

Let me address the first statement as eloquently as possible: Are you freakin' kidding me? The Celtics are gonna put the mighty Pistons out of their misery as soon as they get passed those pesky Cavs.

Now, as for the 2nd comment. Have you been watching the Celtics at all this year? I agree that they have a 3-4 year window to win a title but I do believe that thru all these trials & tribulations that the Celtics are going thru during road games, that that'll change eventually. I cannot predict when but I think that either in the East Conference Finals or even the NBA Finals itself, the Celtics will form like Voltron and become the powerhouse that they've been all year long to produce a 66-16 record. Also, people must remember that they did in fact have a winning record against the West this season as well. That must count for something....or at least I'm hoping it does.

I have a feeling you are going to be in for an unpleasant suprise.

And I have a feeling that you'll be eating those words while saying to yourself, "That damn BornIcon was right about the Celtics....THAT FUCKER!!!"

It seems like every team is having a difficult time playing on the road this year in the playoffs (minus the Pistons' 1 win versus the Orlando Magic) so it's not just the C's.

Except the Celtics look like shit compared to themselves during the regular season

They can look like shit but the question is: Are they still winning?

Tonight, we'll find out if the Celtics/Cavs series is over or if there will be a Game 7 at Boston. With the way things been looking so far in both the east & west, there will be a Game 7 and Boston will win. When they face the Pistons, not only will the Celtics have home court advantage but they'll also have home court advantage in the NBA Final.

Comment icon posted at 7:19 AM CDT on May 16

The Pistons can win on the road..

Why? Because they won once? I dont buy it, so excuse me but we're going to have to agree to disagree.

I'll give you that the Celtics haven't looked as dominant in the playoffs as they were in the regular season but I have to believe that they can still turn, whatever it is that's going on, around and no other team in the east can make me think otherwise considering that it isn't just the Celtics that haven't looked like themselves on the road. Look at every team in the playoffs and it's exactly the same thing, problems on the road but the Celtics are still ahead in wins against the Cavs and the Cavs are the ones that have their backs against the wall.

Why is it that just because the Celtics are having the same problem as everyone else in the playoffs on the road, they're the ones that everyone is worried about? I get that it may be a mental thing but considering that the Celtics have themselves some great players on their roster, someone like KG needs to step up to the plate and lead this team to VICTORY, as Johnny Drama would put it.

Don't nobody really care about the OJ Mayo situation...or at least I don't. College ball is a business and everyone profits EXCEPT the players. College coaches can also sign a 7 year contract and the following year, decide that he/she may want to coach elsewhere and they can do just that with no repercussion. On the other hand, if a college student decides to transfer to a different school, he/she must sit out for at least 1 year. Just ridiculous...

Back on topic, LeBron's mom needs to sit down and watch the game just like everyone else.
