Pacers new line-up, watch out for the Heat Stephen Jackson and three teammates, Marquis Daniels, Jamall Tinsley and Jimmie Hunter, visited a strip bar and were involved in an alteraction where Jackson allegedly jumped on a car hood, fired gunshots "in the air" and was hit by a car. Two of the other Pacers also had guns in their cars, all with permits.

Tejada Wants Out of Baltimore "I've done many things with this team and I haven't seen results," Miguel Tejada said, "and the other teams are getting stronger while the Orioles have not made any signings to strengthen the club." A possible blockbuster! What are the chances and what would it mean to all involved?

David Stern Explains Late NBA Start Times: "That's what you jerks want." It's not advertising dollars, it's the insomniac nature of NBA fans that's driven the NBA to schedule even weekend games to start at 9PM EDT.

During last season's Stanley Cup final I had to pull my kids out of school early to make the 5pm starts...it happens.

Wow, that's setting the example of life's proper priorities. Get those kids out of school, the game's on!!!!!!!

Steelergirl, there is a big difference between an adult finishing their work and leaving early and an adult who takes their children out of school early. I commend you, I condemn captaincavegirl.

Puerto Rican Track Kills Losing Thoroughbreds In Puerto Rico, many thoroughbreds never make it off the track alive. "More than 400 horses, many in perfect health, are killed each year by lethal injection at a clinic tucked behind the Hipodromo Camarero racetrack, chief veterinarian Jose Garcia told The Associated Press after checking clinic log books going back seven years." Hipodromo Camarero, the territory's only thoroughbred racetrack, races a stable of 1,300 horses five days a week.

Newbie,
That is excactly true...No way he doesn't get his comp'd room and more next time he goes there. He's "almost" a perfect customer, loses big and draws attention when he is there. They have to wait a few months for some $$, NP, more pub. I love CB, (don't even go there) and any chance to have a Miller Lite with him or watch him piss away, or win money at a table would be great fun to watch, and even better to listen.

Relax! Cleveland Cavaliers' LeBron James now has mom as an enforcer Why was anyone ever worried about the hard fouls issued to LeBron James? Cleveland fans don't have to worry about James as long as his mom is in the house.

I think this could also be a post about Mayo saying he never received any gifts while at USC but can afford $850 seats by himself. HMMMMMMMM!
I have to also wonder what is up at USC. I would think with the Reggie Bush situation all the AD coachs would be "heads up" not "head in the sand" Pretty soon USC is going to be sanctioned in all sports and the glory that they have attained will become a joke.
Sorry to go off post.

The Best Homerun Story Ever

posted to Baseball at 10:27 AM CDT

When we grow up this will not seem out of the ordinary.
billsaysthis
Maybe on the big softball field in heaven, but many of us have grown up and this is extaordinary. I'm pretty/really old and I cannot remember another story like this. Mallory should be recognized world wide for this because it is a lesson 99.9% of the people on this earth could learn from (though she would hate that I'm sure). All the talk of athletes not being role models, we all just found one!

Clemens reportedly had affair with country star Roger Clemens has another potential scandal he's already denying. He reportedly had a affair with country singer Mindy McCready in a decade-long relationship that began when she was 15 and Clemens was a 28-year old with the Red Sox. This could be especially damaging as Clemens' defamation suit against Brian McNamee proceeds.

I just keep trying to figure out how a PR/promotion group could think this is a good way to present their client for future work.

Let's think. mmmm She has had drug and legal problems in the past so let's put out the story of her hanging out in bars at 15 and having a "relationship" with a married baseball player (and RC makes it all the better because he is universally loved). So now she sounds even more like a skank. Mothers now will really want their daughters to buy her records and watch her shows. Yeah, that's the ticket!!! Let's go with that!!!

I don't get it.....

rcade, I hope I never think like a reality show producer. I have seen the Osbournes but that was well beyond a train wreck. Who in their right mind (......ooops, now I get it) would do that?
Also, while beauty is in the mind of the beholder, I wonder from the pictures I have seen, how RC could find the plate with a fastball, I think he is blind!!

Also, off topic, maybe we should go to the locker room and talk about why dyams is leaving. It seemed to work in the past and I feel he is one of the best contributers here and I would hate to see him leave.

Isiah Permanently Ejected In a move long wished for by fans, the Knicks finally admit to dumbest mistake ever and fire Thomas.

posted to Basketball at 6:35 PM CDT

Ejected from the bench but apparently being kept on in an un-named position. It must be because he is owed so much money. They have blown so much money because of him it would seem a buyout would be the best money spent and get him out of the organization completely.

Jose Canseco Has 'Stuff' on A-Rod Throughout this whole somewhat tainted steroids era, Alex Rodriguez's name has never really been slung through the mud. He obviously has a lot of home runs for his age, but he's never hit an exorbitant amount of them in one season. The general perception is A-Rod is just really, really good at what he does.

posted to Baseball at 10:40 AM CDT

I'm begining to wonder if Canseco is now on Clemens' payroll. Jose is a money whore and Clemens might think if he gets the man who has told the truth, for the most part, to say he's clean then that's a big plus in his column. Canseco's statements about believing what Clemens said at the Congressional hearing goes against almost any logic. I also think Clemens knows there are big cracks in his credibility. A deal with the devil?? I don't know, but, what if???
Go easy, it's only a thought.

QMJHL mulls sanctions against Roy after brawl The son of legendary NHL goalie Patrick Roy could face discipline from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for his role in an ugly brawl during a first-round playoff game between the Quebec Remparts and the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. Roy coaches his son Jonathan on the Remparts and denies he encouraged the slugfest near the end of the second period in Saturday night's 10-1 thrashing from the Sagueneens.

Hey tahoemoj, WTF did you just mean by your last statement? I looked up your bio and it dosn't say where you are from. Where are you from and what gives you the right to call anywhere a cesspool other than where you live right now??? I have never lived in either of those two states but I'm sure a lot of fine people are pretty pissed at you right now. That was some very nasty talk about anywhere hockey or not.

As disgusting as the whole thing was it was the last punch that borders on criminal. It seemed like he was done then threw that last one at an opening he saw to hurt Nadeau badly. That extra punch deserves a season to me not 7 games.
And would they miss him anyway?
The 19-year-old Roy was near the bottom of the league’s goaltending statistics in the regular season, with a 3-10 record in 22 games and a 3.96 goals-against average.

Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden
Every material on earth is, at the initial level, constructed from b-balls. Carbon is b-balls. The blood flowing through our b-ball veins is made of b-balls. Every star in our cosmos is b-ball in origin. Understand this, and you may begin to understand Barkley, Shut Up And Jam: Gaiden. Once you've digested that, download the game. [via]

Not sure what this has to do with Charles Barkley with no quotes from him. Maybe I'm missing the whole thing, but I can say I have met him, and he is one of the nicest guys you would ever meet. He spoke, signed and was as gracious as any speaker I have heard. He was speaking to kids in SF (This was about 5 years ago).
The only question he said was out bounds was "How much did he weigh?"
I hope he does run in Alabama and will be a voice for kids, he means it, really.
