Barry Bonds signs with Yankees!
The New York Yankees have pulled out all the stops to win this season and have signed Barry Bonds to act as their DH. This comes on the heels of Jason Giambi being diagnosed with another stomach tumour (his first one was in 2004). Bonds is expected to practice with their Florida State League team for a couple of weeks before being called up to the majors. The terms of his contract are currently unavailable.

Man, when i read that headline, i called my boss before I read the article since we're both baseball nuts here in Houston. After I got off the phone, I opened the article and realised i had been spoofed. Obiviously, i had to call my boss back and changed my story. Nice one, Grum!!

Carl Edwards Heavily Penalized For Cheating, But Doesn't Have To Forfeit Vegas Win. Wait, what?

posted to Auto Racing at 9:43 AM CDT

Would have loved to be there when Edwards got the news. He acts like the All-American, aww shucks kind of guy when things are going his way but whines
like a girlyman when it doesn't. Was glad to see Robbie Gordon get a brake from Nascar, tho.

A Crushing Blow to Yao Ming and the Rockets The future of the Houston Rockets is back on spin cycle. The player some believe plays like Bill Walton is now threatening to have a career like ... Bill Walton.

posted to Basketball at 4:24 PM CDT

There's no way the Rockets can overcome this. If they make it to the playoffs, they'll never make it past the first round. They have a grueling schedule coming up in March. You should of heard the local sports radio chatter here in Houston. I thought I was listening to someone's funeral on Sports Radio 610 AM

The Epic of Craig Biggio You ever go to a movie, it' s pretty good for about an hour and a half but then the story is over but it's like the director can't find the ending so it goes on for another half-hour looking for some way to tie things together? That's kind of Biggio's career; it was over, and then it went on for quite awhile.

posted to Baseball at 9:38 AM CDT

I watched Biggio from his rookie year until he retired in 2007. Used to go to the Dome before Minute Maid was built. The guy was fun to watch and he'll be missed by the people in Houston. Thanks Craig, it was a joy to watch ya.

2 men shot in Houston's Reliant Stadium parking lot after the US and Mexico play to a thrilling 2-2 draw. In a sick sort of way, is it possible this shooting is good for soccer in America? This "friendly" was played before 70,103 fans and the nosie was so loud the players couldn't communicate with each other or hear the official's whistle.

Rcade, I live here in Houston and the Media (television and sports radio) are all over Soccer here. Myself, I don't keep up with it, much.

Baylor Ends 39-Year Absence from AP Poll Baylor's mens basketball team has cracked the AP top 25 for the first time since Feb. 11, 1969, starting 15-2 only five years after the disastrous and criminal Dave Bliss era. The long AP drought sent me fishing for historic data on other NCAA teams that have gone unranked for decades. I couldn't find it for hoops, but the AP Poll Archive has the numbers for football. My alma mater has been absent from the last 739 AP football polls, a 48-year cold streak.

I heard about this yesterday on our sports channel here in Houston. Congrats Baylor . It's about time.

Patriots are perfect 16-0 with a comeback win against the New York Giants, overcoming a 12 point third-quarter deficit. Tom Brady's 50 touchdown passes in a season breaks Peyton Manning's record; Randy Moss' 23 touchdown catches in a season breaks Jerry Rice's record.

Blockbuster: Tigers agree to aquire Cabrera, Willis from Marlins Whatchu talkin' 'bout Dontrelle? Six prospects head to Miami including Detroit's 1st round picks in 2005 and 2006.

posted to Baseball at 11:01 PM CDT

Blockbuster trade? I dunno. Cabrera, no doubt he's awesome. But Willis went 10-15 with a 5.17 ERA. But then moving to beautiful Detroit Michigan (input sarcasm), might be what Dontrelle needs.

Chargers May Play Texans in Dallas The use of San Diego's Qualcomm stadium to house refugees of the wildfires may move Sunday's NFL game to either Houston, the home of the visiting Texans, or Texas Stadium in Dallas, where the Cowboys have a bye week. Four years ago, fires chased the Chargers to a home game against the Dolphins at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe.
