Vick to still play.: "The Associated Press reported that after consulting with the Falcons, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell and top league officials agreed Wednesday to let Vick play as the legal process determines the facts. A person with knowledge of the meeting, who requested anonymity so the case would not be influenced, said the NFL would stick to that position for the foreseeable future, despite its new personal conduct policy, the AP reported. Beilein takes UM job.: The ironic thing here is Beilein once complained that the only thing he didn't like about the WVU job was he worked in a place where the football program overshadowed the basketball program. I wonder what he will find at Big Blue?

Cowboy's "Crazy Ray" dies.: Super fan and team unofficial mascot Wilford "Crazy Ray" Jones has died.

Turner to coach Bolts.: The man won two Superbowl rings as the O Coordinator in Dallas. However, he has a combined record of 58-82-1 as a head coach in Washington and Oakland. All of the people interviewed by the Chargers (to my knowledge) had at least one Superbowl ring as a player or coach. Did they pick the right one?

yerfatma,
It is a 1st Amend. issues. I am not a lawyer, but I am a public school administrator - and I would say that does make me an expert in this area. And, given that I have had to testify in our local courts seveal times as an 'expert witness', I feel that claim is justified. Tinker v. Des Moines Board of Ed. clearly ruled that a students right to free speech does not end at the school doors. This is concidered a landmark case in the area of free speech. A school does have the right to curtail free speech in publication, such as a yearbook or student newspaper. The school also has the right to limit student expression through clothing if it is in poor taste by the standards of the community or if it interfers with the education process - both admittedly are grey areas. Personally, I see this as a teacher who went to far in an on-going joke with a student, or parents, who fail to see the humor - thus the claim the student was humiliated by his peers due to teasing at lunchtime. I still stand by my claim: in today's society, he, or the school, will be lucky if they are not sued.

Amazing - they have that kind of money to throw around for players, yet have the brass to seek public funding for a new stadium...

Favre said he wants to play. Now he's considering this "marketing deal" not to play valued at $20 mill. It makes him seem like a money grubbing asshole. What I can't understand is that Favre claims he asked GB about a coaching position and they turned him down. If that is true, why would GB not jump at the chance of making one of the best QBs in the modern era a QB coach? Surely he has value in passing on his knowlege to the new players.

Lefty.....overpaid? Please. Every doctor, lawyer, politician, or any other professional got to where they are with the aid of a teacher. Teachers are surrogate parents, oftentimes seeing the child more than the biological parents. Ask yourself, what attracts young families to a community? Answer: effective schools. What makes a school effective? The teachers, not the admin., and not the sports program. Schools effectivness is measured by accademic performance, not success on the grid iron.

Many sports have resulted in the death of participants. Boxing has probably had some of the most famous of these. I am fearful that, since MMA is thought by some to be a hyper-violent sport, this death could result in some lame knee-jerk reaction. Can you say mandatory head gear?

A-Rod is going to land at Pittsburgh. Oh, wait a minute...that would require they actually HAVE a checkbook to open up first...sorry, please continue the discussion.

There is a saying 'down South': "Don't air your dirty laundry in the front yard." In other words, Solo had the right to say what she did, but not in a public forum. That lacked class. If she wants to air a grievance against Ryan, do so in his office, locker room, to his bosses, etc.; not in front of the world press.

I thought the US was lucky to draw with N. Korea. Their off-ball movement was not well timed and passing was shabby. They really turned it around for game 2 against Sweden.

Prediction - Quinn will be the starter no later than week 7.

I like the suit idea. It harkens back to the days of Tom Landry, a head coach who could teach a thing or two about class.

Brady Quinn's House Up For Sale
Hard to see any QB being successful on a team with second rate wideouts, a poor line, a banged up #1 tailback, and a banged up kicker....I'll bet Quinn lands in Miami.
