After almost 30 years, Thurman Munson still has a place in Yankee history.: His widow, Diane Munson, wonders what will happen to his locker when the Yankees move to a new stadium. His locker is kept empty in his honor.

Ex-players to picket HOF: Some former NFL'ers, wanting to draw attention to the inadequate retirement benefits of some, and their dissatisfaction with the NFLPA leadership, are hoping to make a statement in Canton, Ohio this summer.

Some NFL stadiums now accepting tattling via text message.

I can understand the drunk, abusive fan. But what about the people who are just LOUD? I can bellow louder than a bull elephant when my team is playing. And my "rebel yell" is just as ear piercing. Should I be kicked out of a game just for that? I think that would be a bit much.

In my defense, I want to say I don't do it constantly during the game, only on a score or a really great play.

If some fans want to watch a game where there is no fans swearing or drinking, maybe they should stay home and watch on TV.

Bernie Ecclestone loses mind.

DumontDude, you obviously do not understand the logistics and finesse of operating a F-1 race car. This isn't the crash and bash of NASCAR.

The Hoser's NFL Picks, Week Eight 2008

Couldn't they just be referred to as "Washington" and let the discussion be about football? Just wondering.

NFL Union Screwing Players?

Thanks for that bit of info YYM.

So I guess that is a double edged sword. If you have your name/image copyrighted, EA just works around you. Hmmmmm. IDK if Bonds, Parcells, and Belichick have trademarked themselves, but that would be why they aren't mentioned in the games, right?

NFL Union Screwing Players?

Good thing all the players are wearing those Gene Upshaw memorial patches, huh?

posted by wfrazerjr at 10:42 AM

Yeah, fraz, but at least it is a little sticker on the back of the helmet instead of the big GU patch on the upper left front of the jersey. Much easier to ignore.

I wonder if we will be seeing more, if any players copyrighting their images, or having exclusive license for their likeness, signature, name, etc., etc. like Dale Earnhardt did. Then wouldn't EA have to deal with each player individually?

Member Pages Are Back

Nice.

I too don't care for the signing in every time to post a comment. But that might be I have so many passwords I have to write them in a little tablet and look them up all the time.

Sigh

rcade, do you think we could have the "every other comment highlighted" thing again? I realize I am not as young as I used to be and the eyes are going, but the aboved mentioned highlight makes the comments sooooo much easier to read. Thanks in advance.

Wow! If you can't get it said in 4,000 characters...(not directed at you personally, Ms. Bat)

Big money teams, COT & no Dodges in NASCAR chase

Well, Doehead, I think talent has something to do with it. Put one of the "also ran" drivers in any of those cars and they would probably still be an "also ran".

New Stadiums: Prices, and Outrage, Escalate

Makes me glad I broke down and finally got cable. No, I don't have the NFL Network, but I will still get to see a lot of games...from the comfort of my nice chair, ice cold beer at about $1.25 a bottle (MGD) snacks at bargain prices, a clean bathroom with no wait, and no goofs who stand up in front of me.

The stadium experience it great, but not when you have to take out a payday loan to have it.

BTW, I got a free Giants fleece jacket from SI when I renewed my subscription. That is all the $$$ they are gonna get from me.

Why do you support who you do?

I am a Steeler fan (rather than a Browns fan) because I labored for 24yrs in a steel mill here in beautiful Canton, Ohio. Before that, I was a Raiders fan because I liked their "just win, baby" attitude and how they would take players off the scrap heap and go to the Super Bowl with them. (a long time ago, I know) But I will watch any teams play and love to talk football.

I casually follow the Indians and the Cavs because they are the "local" teams.

In hockey it is the New Jersey Devils because I am a BIG fan of Martin Brodeur. That will probably change when he retires.

College is Mount Union even thought they are a small school. I grew up around the Alliance, Ohio area and my sis-in-law and neice are alumi.

I followed NASCAR til R.J. Reynolds pulled out and they started futzing with the rules. Now I just glance at the standings once in a while.

"Papa, I gotta go potty. Hold my fishing rod."

Nice story, Ms. Bat!

The monster fish is in Hayes' freezer. He's retiring the Barbie fishing rod, and will buy Alyssa a new one. A friend plans to mount the fish and rod for him.

I hope he gives the mounted fish and rod to Alyssa. It will look good on her wall if she becomes some high powered attorney/executive!

NFLPA Director Gene Upshaw Dies

yzelda, I have searched a bit and all I can find is Upshaw was executive director in 1983 and played a big part in the strike of 1987 (don't know too much about the strike of '82) So I don't know if being E.D. is the "head" or not. Currently the president is Kevin Mawae of the Tennessee Titans. And Richard Berthelsen has been appointed interim Executive Director.

The cancer must have come on really quick or he ignored symtoms. To find out and die that fast...wow!
