Does anyone know of any good NBA blogs?

Brown tired of Iverson? Is this for real? I thought that the Sixers were just a second scorer away from getting a higher seed. Are Iverson's missed practices hurting the team or Brown's feelings?

Is Junior cursed? He slips during a rundown, and is now out for 3-6 weeks. Will he ever live up to his full potential? How long before he is traded to the AL to becme a DH? If he is out for the year, will he ever reach 500 home runs?

Not even a debate. Yet voting on the same site gives a 65/35 split in favor of the NBA playoffs superiority. This just roasts my chicken, and feeds the argument that something has to be done with the education in this country. Take the grit and violence of the NFL, G, plus the skill and creativity of World Class Soccer, S, and multiply it by end-to-end action, A, and you get the best 8 weeks of sports every year.

I don't even know how to ice skate and have never seen snow. But the NHL playoffs are clearly superior. 1. LESS commercials. The last ten seconds of NBA games seem to take 30 min. 2. NO celebrities in the front row. 3. Sudden Death Overtime. I grew up playing b-ball and still play to this day but on tv, hockey blows 'em away.

The International Pasttime "Every pro sport wants to conquer the world. For many years football, basketball and baseball have boasted about their ambitions to develop a true international identity. Who thought that baseball, so backward at times and blockheaded at others, would establish itself as such an exemplary international sport?"

I love baseball. But I think that this is a love letter to MLB asking for the Expos hand in marriage. Also, everyone knows that futbol is king.

War fallout begins: Baseball scuttles Mariners-A's series in Japan. "The season-opening series in Japan between the Seattle Mariners and Oakland Athletics, scheduled March 25-26, has been canceled by Major League Baseball because of the tense world situation. ... Selig said the 2003 season opener will now feature the World Series champion Anaheim Angels against the Texas Rangers on Sunday, March 30."

Put your flags down people. War or no war, this was a dumb idea. It's a publicity stunt thought up by the boys in marketing. Instead of trying to appeal to kids here, they want to sell to a country that already has an established league. A country that resents the fact that we are taking all of their best players. Didn't a team of all-stars go during the winter? As for Mariner fans in Japan, I think they will follow Ichiro wherever and whenever he plays.

Sportsmanship 101 The Cavaliers Ricky Davis was close to his first triple double, needing just one rebound. Then, the whole brain fart thing comes into play...

posted by bcb2k2 at 06:51 PM on March 17

He was fouled before he got the rebound, so no triple-double for him. This was wrong, but the Jazz are no angels either, so these people deserve each other. Not defending Davis in any way, shape or form by the way. He is pretty young and stupid.

How does Barry Bonds hit a home run?
A nice little flash presentation of one of the greatest hitters of our generation. Extra bonus: a frame by frame description of what you are seeing by one of the other greatest hitters of our generation, Tony Gwynn.

Lots of posts today... here's ... Lots of posts today... here's another one that surprises noone but disappoints many: Bron's back. I don't like it. Let's just keep giving these athletes the message that they're above the rules, that's healthy...

He told that "academic achievement" bullflop to Deion (Prime) too. Just imagine the times he had to repeat that to himself so he wouldn't laugh. He is going to get some calls in the NBA with those acting skills. Can you imagine if a teacher wanted to fail him, he/she would always and forever be the one who failed LeBron. Probably get blamed if he doesn't make it in the NBA. "If only he had passed that last home ec. sewing quiz......"

What's the first thing that ... What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you think of the Indiana Pacers? If it's "Bad Boys II" then you're victim of the media. At least that's what Isaiah and Conrad think. If you seen the Pacers play or have followed their games and post-game interviews, you might agree. Almost every opposing coach and player, with the exception of Don Nelson, have applauded the Pacers for their hard play and unselfishness. So what gives? Why this perception? Before you answer, read what Isaiah has to say about his recent suspension. There is one writer in Indy who feels that the Pacers should not shy away from the Bad Boy image.

posted by jacknose at 10:11 AM on February 05

Forget Bad Boys II, they should worry about becoming Blazers East, lots of talent and no rings. When they earn a ring they will earn a nickname. Also, Artest is the only one that fits the Bad Boy image.

The Houston Astros signed second basemen Jeff Kent to a $18.2 million, two-year contract. The move was not on the radar screen (in the words of GM Gerry Hunsicker) and is a very pleasant suprise to Astros fans like myself. In fact it is being called the biggest free agent signing in Astros history next to Nolan Ryan's way back when. Kent was the NL MVP in 2000 and hit .313 last season with 37 homers and 108 RBI, helping the Giants to the World Series. As for second basemen Craig Biggio, well he might be moving to the outfield or Kent might move to third with Biggio staying at second.

As a fellow Astros fan, I'm thinking Biggio moves to CF if he can get new knees. They need to get rid of Hidalgo/Ward so he can play a decent LF. Definitely move to the outfield though. With Kent, I just wonder if that is a porno-stache or gay cop-stache? (from baseballprimer.com)

Pitchers should not be ... Pitchers should not be considered for the MVP award, Barry Bonds said in an interview with MLB.Com published Friday. "I think it's embarrassing to everyday players," Bonds said. "It's an insult. They have their award and then everybody gets to fight for it in the playoffs or World Series. A pitcher can be MVP in the playoffs."

CBS Sports' Jill Arrington posed for FHM magazine. Sports news columnist Rudy Martzke says "It's obvious that Arrington, 30, who is married, has dropped the facade and embraced using her good looks for personal promotion, hardly the preferred attribute for someone trying to be accepted as a serious sports journalist."

Sportswriters can't be relied ... Sportswriters can't be relied on to cover athletes because they have to kiss ass to continue getting access, according to this Washington City Paper story, which documents Michael Wilbon's passionate 20-year love affair with Michael Jordan.

posted by rcade at 11:24 PM on June 20

That's nothing, the Houston Chronicle was still on the Enron bandwagon after the WSJ broke the news about their collapse. Wilbon is from Chicago, so Jordan is always going to get more than the benefit of the doubt. (kiss, kiss)
