Ken Venturi finally retires.: This is the last week of the love fest for departing CBS golf announcer Ken Venturi. This sounds like a great thing, but every year he seems to be retiring, only to come back. So don't be shocked to see him back. The only thing notable to come from Mr. Venturi, 71, recently was his drunk driving arrest last year. He used the cliched, but still hilarious line, "don't you know who I am." Lanny Wadkins will take his place in the booth. What do you think about that?

Griese Monkey Falls Down.: A spokesman "would not say if alcohol was involved on Sunday." I'll fill you in. Of course it was. This fella drinks more than Kid Rock at a barbeque on his Michigan ranch on the 4th of July. Griese would probably have been driving home, so it may have been good this happened. I don't want to be anywhere near this buffoon on the road.

Flyers cut the Barber.: Bill Barber is gone and the players want to get their parting shots in. That would be 5 coaches fired in 6 years under Clarkie. He must have dirty pictures of team owner, Mr. Ed Sninder. When will the blame be placed on the players or the GM, because the owner can't be wrong because he pays the bills? The system, the smishtem!!!

The Shark's Diary Entry.: On his website, Greg Norman talks about his Masters' first round and his relationship with Arnold Palmer. The strange thing is he tells a story that he thinks is funny about him drunk driving (5th paragraph from end). And in this story Lynne Truss thinks the shark was mocking Arnie yesterday.

Rhodes arrested.: Indy's leading rusher beats his girlfriend. What esle is new? As a right of passage, you are not a real NFL ballplayer unless you beat your wife, girlfriend, or baby's mama. Can the public please stop supporting these scumbags. However if not for the NFL, the prison population would increase by about 1500.

Najeh Davenport is arrested for "burglary",

Fatboy Nate Newton beats Davenport by a puff. 2 months and almost 400 pounds of weed. Now that is impressive even for a man of Nate's stature.

Darryl Kile found dead at 33; may he rest in peace.

Strange story. When will the first lawsuit be filed?

Ken Venturi finally retires.

Yes Melnyk is horrible. For that matter ABC whole production stinks, aside from Mike Tirico.

Baseball's desperation grows - Sleepovers the latest attempt to lure fans.

I have been to a baseball game in years and don't follow it now, but this would peak my interest if I lived in Chicago.

David Feherty may be the funniest commentator in sports today.

Most golfers are known for be as dull. Just watch Davis Love or Vijay Singh talk. 'Fairway' Feherty must dred interacting with these tools. But he is one funny guy. His line about the spectators in Dallas is a classic. They come "to admire a vast array of silicone spectator mounds...most mammals in the area are doing exactly the same thing."

I 2nd the Maradona goal. Too bad I didn't see the goal yesterday. Especially in America it's going to be tough to see the replay. Anyone know where I can see it online?

Tim Duncan, MVP

I want to see the voting to see how many 1sts, 2nds, & 3rds Ben Wallace received. He carried the Pistons & was able to overcome having Stackhouse on his team.

Milton Bradley boozes up and riots.

Milton has been blowing off steam for years, "even asking the public-address announcer to play an expletive-soaked rap when he came to the plate, then glowering at the press box when the tune was pulled after one at-bat."

Milton, If you want to be the next Albert "Joey" Belle, you need to hit a few homers also.

A tradition unlike any other...The Masters.

Yes, I'll clarify. I didn't mean they were anti-foreigners. I just thought it would be a strange situation if the Masters winner couldn't speak English and was a former caddie. You just have to remember that 90% of the foreign golfers come from privleged backgrounds (compared to 99% of American pros), so there is not a huge class difference. Even if you look at the foreign Masters champions most came from at least comfortable family situations (Olazabal, Vijay, Player, Woosnam). Langer would be an exception.

A tradition unlike any other...The Masters.

Bitter Punk, Cabrera a dark horse. He is one shot back of Love and had a good Masters last year. He is a world class player, but doesn't get American press because he can't speak English. It would be something though. An Argentinian coming from poverty being associated with those stuffed shirts. The only thing more uncomfortable would be Rosie O'Donnell winning the green jacket.

A tradition unlike any other...The Masters.

I like Dimarco to win. It's just a hunch because of his impressive play last year in his first Masters. Aside from the big 4 (Woods, Duval, Mick, Els), everyone seems to be on the Olazabal and Daly bandwagons. This signals to me that these players will be disappointing, even though a disappointing finish for Jose may be tenth place.

It seems increasingly clear that Rickey Henderson is going to be the first active player in baseball history to die of old age.

His acceptance speech will be memorable. "Rickey says this...Rickey thinks this"

The heckling continues for Montgomerie.

"tiger woods receives millions of dollars for just showing up at an event" To clarify, Tiger Woods does not receive any money for showing up at a PGA Tour event and neither does anyone else. This is done in tournaments sanctioned by other tours. It looks like, to no suprise, msacheson is the only one who supports my original thread.
