Doctor: Palmer knee injury 'potentially career-ending' Carson Palmer's went down on his first pass in a playoff game in what could potentially be his last game. This quote is from the doctor who helped work on Palmer "On a scale of one to three, it was a four," he said. "It was off the chart. It was pretty badly damaged -- shredded is the better term." This is horrible news and a tragic situation but Carson is still a young guy and I don't think we've seen the last of him.

Beckett to Rangers in 4 player trade this deal, while not finalized, looks like it will go through sending josh beckett, mike lowell to the rangers for hank blalock and a prospect. with a lackluster free agent market this could be the start of teams looking towards trading to get better and it most definatly is the start of yet another marlin firesale with peirre and lo duca on trading block

Awesome short video from last night's CBS News an autistic student being called into his first basketball game. Watch it until the end, it kicks ass.

Piss(ton)ing away a No. 2 overall pick? The Detroit Pistons and the Orlando Magic are apparently close to pulling off a deal that would send former No. 2 overall pick Darko Milicic south with Carlos Arroyo for Kelvin Cato and a first-round selection. Does Milicic have a future in the NBA, and is he the biggest draft bust of the new millenium, no matter the league?

oh yea this thread is about darko...its too bad larry brown was the coach at the time of the draft or the pistons would have melo at SF instead of prince...but brown seems to have a dislike of rookies and giving them playing time so he figured he'd draft someone with no chance of playing darko is a wild card...he is definatly not a number 2 pick and these expectations will always follow him around much like kwame brown.... if he can get on a team like the magic and get a chance to play who knows if he'll develop but riding the pine in detroit is doing him no good

and they're....um...how close to making the playoffs this year.......without shaq? they do have the 8th seed right now so that would be...um...in the playoffs....i am not a lakers fan but you have to give kobe his props...with a garbage team he has done all one player can do...and do you think the lakers would be better if they had they same players they do now but they had shaq instead of kobe...i don't think they could get the 8th seed even and how many titles did shaq ever win by himself...a big fat donut....which i'm sure shaq will have no problem eating a couple boxes of when he gets on the force and grows his cop stasche

Slammin' Sammy likely to retire Sosa rejects an offer from the Nationals. Agent says "we have likely seen him in uniform for the last time".

I'll always remember Sosa for forgetting how to speak english when he went in front of congress. Pretty convienent time to forget a language after doing countless commercials, interviews and press conferences.

As if anyone needed extra motivation. Jerramy Stevens guarrantees victory on sunday.

posted by chuy at 06:57 PM on February 01

This is all hype designed to get more people excited for the game. A lot of people are saying this will be used for motivation for this side or that side but do you really think these guys need anymore motivation when they are playing the biggest game of their life? I'm sure before this the steelers weren't going to give 100 percent but oh man now that the tight end from the other team said something they are going to try harder now....get real people don't buy the hype this stuff doesn't matter.

Jermaine O'Neal out for 8 weeks Due to a groin injury, O'Neal will be taking a seat for 8 weeks. Will this hurt the Pacer's outcome of their season?

posted by siouxhocky at 07:22 PM on January 26

i don't know how you call o'neal overated and then admit he's good for a double double most nights. indiana will be okay they probably won't make it to the eastern finals but o'neal will be back in time for the playoffs and except for detroit nobody from the east looks that solid this year so they could still make some noise.

Deion drops the Neon. "At this point and age in my career I'm not looking for a stage," Sanders said ... "I'm looking to teach the young players how to be professional, how to be a man, how to be a father, how to be a friend, how to handle your finances."... When he quits for keeps, Sanders probably will be asked to return to the TV studio. But his experience over the past two seasons has caused him to consider an alternate vocation: What he really wants to do is become a coach.

I agree that deion is not a criminal i just find it funny that he's teaching players how to act like a professionals and better men. There are a lot of people who carried themselves much better than deion. If this was Jerry Rice in a mentoring role I would have no problem with it but deion? And yeah this isn't that big of a deal and deion can probably give some good football lessons i just hope the players tune out when he goes to other subjects.

God Bless Ye Merry NFL The NFL will be playing regular season games on Christmas for only the second time in its history, joining the NBA in scheduling games on the holiday. "I feel safe in presuming to speak for most Americans on this: we can make it through Jesus’ birthday without watching the Lakers and Heat on TV," writes Randy Horick of Nashville Scene. NBA columnist Jack McCallum of Sports Illustrated takes the other view, running down his favorite games of Christmas past.

Let's put God back in God's Country why do people talk about america as "god's country"....is it cause god likes rich people? and while i'm on the subject of god i might as well relate it to sports....how funny is it when a athlete asks god for help throwing a pass or throwing a strike. does anyone believe with the problems we have in the world that god, if real, cares about sports?

TO TO'd Owens out and his agent outed.

posted by irunfromclones at 01:38 PM on November 23

I don't mind the decison because T.O. has done so much not only in the past couple weeks but since the season ended last year. he said in preseason he would disrupt the team if he didn't get what he wanted. plus he got in a fight with a ex-player in the workout room going so far as to challenge anyone else present to a fight. the keyshawn situation was different because he never argued his case his just took his de-activation and went home.

I agree with the pierre and lo duca assessments but do you think delgado will return with the marlins? I personally don't see him being back for another year. hopefully for the sake of marlins fans they keep willis and cabrera.
