College Football Rankings - Week 1 Are you ready for some college football? The polls are out. I'm very surprised that Oklahoma is still #5 after having their quarterback tossed for the season.

For those who think Notre Dame is a #1 team , Please rethink your opion, and ask yourself who does Notre Dame play this year. They have a easy schedule , they only play 3 repeat 3 top 25 teams!!!!! Florida plays 6 repeat 6 top 25 teams , 3 of which are on the road!!!!! Now taking into consideration schedule strength ,Who should be # 1 ???? Ans- Florida , enough said.......
Stickball. John McCarthy is trying to teach kids to play baseball for the love of the game. Caught this on NPR on the way to work today. You can read this or listen to the audio on the site. Sweet in so many ways.

When Ozzie tells you to plunk, you plunk...or get plunked In the White Sox vs. Rangers game yesterday, rookie reliever Sean Tracey got yanked after what looked like a failed plunk attempt on Hank Blalock (who grounded out.) Tracey, who got called up to replace the injured Cliff Politte, got an earful from manager Ozzie Guillen, then demoted back to Triple A. Does Tracey deserve sympathy or did he get what he deserved?

49ers Win!!! San Francisco's "victory" over the Oakland Raiders on Friday, in a coin toss to determine the sixth and seventh overall choices in the draft, still felt pretty important to 49ers officials.

Mavs owner Mark Cuban to buy the Pittsburgh Pirates? Local writer John Perrotto, citing Cuban as a "lifelong Pirates fan" says: "To have a risk taker own the Pirates would be a refreshing change of pace from people who run their business like most newspaper people do, cut everything to the barebones and try to bleed as much profit as possible. Just as important, Cuban would bring some personality to a franchise in desperate need of some revitalization." However, he adds "Alas, Cuban buying the Pirates is likely nothing more than a fantasy. While McClatchy has said he might consider stepping down as CEO after next year's All-Star Game at PNC Park, the Nuttings provide the money behind the operation and are said to be in it for the long haul, particularly as long as the Pirates are profitable. Thus, the chances of seeing Cuban sitting in McClatchy's seat are slim, even if it is great fun to speculate on what might be."
