I live in an area a mediocrity. Now an argument could be made about the Reds teams of the 1970's, but I wasn't born yet! The Bengals haven't been to the playoffs since I was four. That was also their last winning season. The Reds were decent until about '95. I really didn't care then. Then there is the UC Bearcats basketball team. They have good records, but they play a bunch of nobodies early on and the players are all thugs. Some bright spots are the Miami Redhawks' teams and Xavier's basketball team, but they are small and don't get the recognition of larger programs. Even with all this, I remain a loyal fan!

Marlin owner may relocate team if they unable to get a stadium deal.. This could be the flip side of the potential "fire sale" of top players.

New Orleans should be back and running by then. Might help out their economy a little as well. If they move to Portland, MLB would have to re-do the divisions. The Pirates would probably be an in the East, with six teams in the west instead of Central.

Brett Favre turns one over ... to a fan Cincy fan Greg Gill came out of the stands Sunday and ended up rumbling, bumbling, stumbling about 50 yards before getting drilled into the turf. Now there are questions about the security at Paul Brown Stadium. Ya think?

I watched the game, and they only showed the part where he grabbed the ball. I had the radio on and they gave a play-by-play. I wish they would show that kind of stuff live on tv.

Yanks angry at Showalter for pulling stars vs. Angels "There's a code of honor when so much is on the line," Rodriguez told the New York Daily News. "You hope people do the right thing. But you can't control what people do."

About time someone sticks it to the Yankees. I would have done the same thing if I was Sholwater.

Thirteen of 14 NFL games will require attendees to be patted down The Bengals/Texans game is the lone exception. "These are illegal searches, the last thing we intend to do is pay for them," Hamilton County Commissioner Phil Heimlich said. "It's bad enough they're trying to subject people to pat-downs. This adds insult to injury."

What are they patting-down for anyway? Has there been a threat?

"Who dey? Who dey? Who dey think gonna beat dem Bengals? The terms "Who dey" and "Who dat" are forms of traditional southern Appalachian dialect, "It is right out of the coal-mining region of southeastern Kentucky, from which a large percentage of Cincinnati's population can trace (its) ancestry," said Tankersley, an anthropologist and professor at Northern Kentucky University.

Who cares? It is our saying and we're keeping it. You never hear who-dat anymore anyway. The announcers on tv say who-dey all the time. The Jets cheers is the only other cheer i ever hear, and they say say it cause they can't remeber how to spell it.

Coordinator First In Line for Vikings' Blame It's time to start the finger-pointing in Minnesota. Seriously, though, did anyone really think this offense would thrive when Randy Moss left?

What makes you think the Bears D will be able to stop Carson Palmer? Pakmer is the best quarterback to this point in the season. And he is only going to get stronger.

Maybe the Bengals are just that good? The Bengals' are good. To this point. They need to clean up their act. Their pass D molested Culpepper all day. The Bengals had a +7 turnover ratio yesterday. Minnesota: 3 fumbles lost, 5 ints. Bengals: 1 int. And the Bengals had two fumble recoveries negated by penalties. Minnesota definitely needs some help.

Don't the Marlins have anything better to worry about? The kid is a teenager. We are all wild. Penny should get suspended by MLB, not the batboy by the Marlins.

Huggins Given Ultimatum Resign or be fired!

posted by curlyelk at 06:32 PM on August 24

If he resigned, he'd get $# mil. and could serve the U. in another capacity, unrelated to hoops, until his retirement, of which he would get all benefits. OR He would be fired for $2 mil. The thing that has Bearcat fans, such as my self, riffed, is the whole handling of the situation. Our big name supporters are pulling out.

You're out! Baseball and softball bite the dust and will be played as Olympic sports for the last time in Beijing. They were not replaced by anything new as the IOC reduced the number of Olympic sports to 26 for London 2012.

The Olympics are more or less to recognize and pit together those athletes who really don't have a professional circuit, or those in one that does not get much recognition. If you win big in baseball, you join the MLB and go to the World Series. There is no World Series in swimming or table tennis.
