I don't watch a lot of NBA basketball, but the little I've seen of Blake Griffin has featured him throwing high elbow after high elbow, and rarely being called for it. I feel that this might be a case of "what goes around comes around". I don't advocate intentionally trying to injure another player, but things have to go both ways. NBA officiating tends to overlook the transgressions of the headliners.
...but I also grew up on watching guys like Maurice Lucas and Dave Cowens handle their business as they saw fit if the need arose
"Now THAT'S a foul". Dave Cowens to referee Bill Jones, February 26, 1976. Cowens' defense of his actions applies here, even though he was referring to flopping. If unfair tactics employed by a few are allowed, then the overall quality of play will deteriorate.

You would be the type that were clapping! How do you figure it has to go both ways? It shouldn't be allowed, period! Everyone throws elbows in this sport, no one does hip checks! Get a clue, please.
