Unbeaten Big Brown comes through to win Kentucky Derby. Big Brown backed up his trainer's boasts with an explosive finishing kick and won the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, a commanding victory turned somber by the fatal breakdown of the filly Eight Belles on horse racing's biggest day.

I love horses-I watch horse races--But I think they are letting too many horses run in each race & they are breeding for speed alone rather than for good bones & durability.

Tony Kornheiser Hates Sportsfilter If a huge dumpster landed on their mother's house, and got all the way into the basement and crushed them, nobody would care. Nobody would miss them. They provide nothing good, no service that's any good at all.

If he hates it so much why does he read it???

Redskins' Taylor Shot by Intruder Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor is in critical condition after being shot twice by an intruder early Monday at his Miami home. Taylor, 24, was the fifth overall pick in the 2004 draft and leads the team in interceptions. He's reportedly in emergency surgery.

jlh-I wonder how you would act in a home burglary? And most people wouldn't expect it to happen again. Not so soon anyway. Sympathy to his family, friends and teammates.

I just wish they'd get some new guys to call the game. Maybe someone with a bit of wit AND intelligence. Is that too much to ask for?

The Vick Indictment has been made public record. Here is the document in its entirety. It seems that Vick was not only aware of the operation, but the major force behind it. He founded, funded and participated in the entire operation. How will the NFL react?

Another Tiger Woods Nope, not Tiger's new daughter but his niece. Meet Cheyenne Woods, 16, 3.3 GPA, 245-yard average drive.

I'm sorry but it should say a female Tiger Woods not another Tiger Woods. I believe it will be a while before we see "another" Tiger Woods.

Buzz for De La Hoya-Mayweather There's a buzz in this gambling town, where the events of next weekend are making some remember boxing's better times. The city is sold out, the beautiful people are on their way, and Oscar De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are acting as if it's 1985 all over again.

I've always loved Oscar. But even I think he's going to have a hard row to hoe this time. Though I can dream, can't I? Go Oscar!!!!!

Ten Years of Tiger - a decade ago, he won his first major in spectacular style. Ten years on, as he gets ready to tee it up in Augusta this week in pursuit of his fifth green jacket, the game has changed dramatically, but there is a lot left to do when it comes to bridging the racial gap. Can anyone beat him this week? At 11/10 with most bookmakers, the experts seem to think not.

"The guy said, 'Hit the net like any Negro would.'" Serena Williams battled both Lucie Safarova and a racist heckler to win her third-round match at the Sony Ericcson Open on Monday, before going on to hand Maria Sharapova a 6-1, 6-1 defeat in the final on Tuesday.

I'm not a fan of the Williams sisters, but was quite glad Serena won afterwards,as I hate prejudice of ANY kind whatsoever.

The Saints Aren't Marching Anywhere, For Now At Least. Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco's administration works with Tom Benson and the Saints to keep the team in New Orleans until 2010 at least. Even better, the foundation is now set for negotiations to keep the Saints in the Big Easy for many years beyond the current deal.

I agree with luther70-I am quite pleased that they're staying. The Big Easy deserves a good team.

"The Snake" sheds his career. Former Arizona Cardinals savior-in-waiting, former inheritor of the Elway throne, Jake Plummer calls it a career after being traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Plummer, who says he's healthy and has a great life, leaves this career behind for another as...a handball player?

Not every player is championship material. And it takes more than a QB to win games.Jake did alright for the teams he played with. And a person's outlook on life & priorities DEFINITELY changes with age. Good luck to Jake in his life.
