The "clutchiest" hits in MLB playoff history.
From Ortiz to Branca, from Brosius to Gibson, a semi-statistical breakdown of the biggest hits in MLB playoff history. So who had the clutchiest hit ever?

Tony Womack?!

thanks Grum. I love this stuff. It's amazing to look at that list and to actually remember seeing some of those hits occur live on TV. That Arizona comeback, the Pujols bomb, Renteria as a young man with the Marlins, Boone, Brosius, Joe Carter jumping for joy, and Fransisco Cabrera driving in Sid Bream. Being a Reds fan, my favorite is the forgotten Joe Morgan hit from Game 7 of the '75 series. That should be even bigger since it came one day after Carlton Fisk hit the most dramatic homer in WS history. Great memories.

The other half of number 714

Great article - Just one typo at the end, it was Eric Show, not Eric Snow, that gave up Pete Rose's 4,192nd hit.

ChiSox Nation Pretty Small Bring back Bill Veeck. He sure could promote a team. Remember the Disco Record burning night when he was with Cleveland? I think he was behind the 10 cent beer night too.

The Disco Demolition promotion that Veeck supported was actually pulled of by Chicago disc jockey Steve Dahl. BTW - the ChiSox had to forfeit game two after the field was destroyed by unruly fans after the demolition. "What began as an effort to sell seats at a White Sox/Detroit Tigers double-header turned into a mass anti-disco movement that would later be credited as the official 'day that disco died.' Fans were encouraged to show up with an admission of $0.98 and a disco record that would be blown up at center field between the games; chaos ensued when an estimated 90,000 baseball fans and listeners crammed the ballpark, the surrounding neighborhood streets and the Dan Ryan expressway, creating traffic jams for miles."

Netball Under 21 World Cup is in Florida this month! Last Friday I went to the farewell ceremony for the Samoa team (ranked 4th in the World). According to this site, interest in netball is now at 'fever pitch' in the USA. Is this tournament really registering on the sports psyche of America?

From the official site.... "While Netball is not a household name in the United States, it is the most popular female team sport in the world, predominantly in Australia, Asia, Africa, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean. International Netball is a women's sport that has returned to its' home the United States (where it originated) with increasing popularity amongst men. Teams play all down the Eastern Seaboard and across to Texas and California, and there are known players and clubs in 35 of the 50 states." Welcome home netball.

Texas Cheerleaders not to Shake It anymore Cheerleaders not told to shake it when state says NO

This from the state that gave us the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. How ironic. Granted there is a difference between high school and professional athletics, but Texas has blurred that line more than any other state.
