Steeler announcing great dies at 79 He was Pittsburgh's Harry Carry. You loved or hated him. Very rarely did he make sense but more times then not, you found youself turning down the TV and turning up the radio to hear Cope announce the game. He was a legend in Pittsburgh and he will not soon be forgotten. If you never heard him, you missed a great one. Pop open an Iron City at Cope's Cabana and drink to one of the greats.

Video: Rutgers Running Back Tackled By His Hair In Rutgers' 63-14 demolition of Louisville Thursday night, a play occurred that doesn't happen as often as it probably should. Rutgers' running back Jourdan Brooks was caught from behind on a breakaway 62-yard run by tackler Travis Norton, who pulled him down entirely by his dreadlocks. When asked by sideline reporter Erin Andrews how much it hurt, on a scale of 1 to 10, Brooks said "8." See the video

A Little "Hometown Justice" A Minnesota judge blocks the NFL's suspensions of Pat and Kevin Williams.

posted by TheQatarian at 08:23 PM on December 04

Bender, Allow me to answer your questions, sorta, with a little bit of NFL policy:

But in issuing the suspensions, the league reiterated the section of its policy that reads:

"You and you alone are responsible for what goes into your body. Claiming that you used only legally available nutritional supplements will not help you in an appeal. ... Even if they are bought over-the-counter from a known establishment, there is currently no way to be sure that they contain the ingredients listed on the packaging or have not been tainted with prohibited substances ...

"If you take these products, you do so AT YOUR OWN RISK! For your own health and success in the league, we strongly encourage you to avoid the use of supplements altogether, or at the very least to be extremely careful about what you choose to take."

The NFL also said it sent two notifications about StarCaps on Dec. 19, 2006 one to NFL club presidents, general managers and head athletic trainers and the second to NFLPA executive Stacy Robinson, who oversees the steroid policy for the union. That letter, according to the league, advised that StarCaps had been added to the list of prohibited dietary supplement companies.

NHL Suspends Sean Avery Over Crude Comment Dallas Stars forward Sean Avery, whose ex-girlfriends include the actress Elisha Cuthbert and model Rachel Hunter, has been suspended indefinitely by the league for the last two words in this comment: "I'm really happy to be back in Calgary; I love Canada. I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds." The AP report on the suspension considered the words too crude to repeat, describing it instead as a "crass term to refer to ex-girlfriends now dating other people."

I would take those sloppy seconds. Elisha Cuthbert is smokin hot.

The remark doesn't sound as bad if you read it. If you hear the interview, IT sounds much worse. That being said Indefinite suspension is a bit much. The man is a douchbag, but entitled his opinion.

Pirates sign 2 Indian pitchers — and, no, not from Cleveland The two 20-year-old pitchers, neither of whom had picked up a baseball until earlier this year, signed free-agent contracts Monday with the Pirates. They are believed to be the first athletes from India to sign professional baseball contracts outside their country.

Well if they don't have bad habits, they will once they leaves the Pirate organization.

This just in: If the Pirates don't put together a winning team, the stadium is thinking of relocating to a new city.

As a pittsburgher, this shows just how low the ownership has sunk. I also hear we are selling gold glove awards to cash4gold.com. Will our saddness never end.

NFL overtime rules? Don't ask McNabb "No, I didn't know that," Donovan McNabb said at his postgame press conference, saying he was not aware that one overtime is all you get in the NFL in the regular season. Then McNabb compounded his error by not knowing the postseason overtime rule. Those games do play to a conclusion for obvious reasons, but McNabb said, "I hate to see what happens in the Super Bowl or I hate to see what happens in the playoffs. You have to settle with a tie." A real student of the game.

After accidentally posting this in the locker room, I gave it a second try. This series makes me want to watch. If it were the Sox and the Dodgers, I would probably watch the series through Espn highlights. I like the chance to see teams that havent been there before. I like seeing the looks of awe on players faces their first time being announced in the SuperBowl, the Stanley cup finals, The World Series. I hate seeing the same guys there year after year that take it for granted and dont show the excitement.

Good Luck Coach Maddon. You look like one of the Hanson Brothers with those glasses and that does it for me. Go Rays!!!

I have a friend who lives in Detroit. He just emailed me his top lines said on sports radio today from a Detroit sports talk station::

"I haven't been this happy since my wife divorced me 5 years ago"

"The Lions are now the only team in NFL history to get a win in there bye week" (bye week this week)

"This must be like how the Ewoks felt at the end of Star Wars!" (My favorite!)

"Never have 2 people getting fired made a whole city so happy!" (talking about the mayor)

Concern for Titans' Young prompts police search Nashville police were asked to search for Vince Young on Monday evening after family members placed a call to the Tennessee Titans informing them of their concern for the quarterback's state of mind.

Must be a slow news day. Unless the titans are covering up something, what would prompt them to call police. I would like to hear the rest of the story. Was Vince threatening himself or others, was he armed? why is this a story.
