I fight because it's my job, not because I like it. Georges Laraque writes his final blog of TSN.ca on hickey fighting. It's a fantastic read with some interesting insight on the world of hockey fights.

Johnson survives tire debacle at Indianapolis INDIANAPOLIS (AP)—Jimmie Johnson grabbed his second win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway by surviving horrendous tire troubles that made Sunday’s race a caution-marred debacle. A durability issue with the tires Goodyear brought to the Brickyard forced NASCAR to slow the race with competition cautions designed to make teams change their tires.

That was awful! I wish they had used a much harder tire even if the drivers complained about it being too slick. I was quite surprised that no one tried staying out on the last caution...c'mon it's the Brickyard 400! I'm also a little surprised no one tried short pitting that last caution by pitting four (4) laps before the scheduled caution lap. That would have been before they closed pit road (assuming they didn't leave it closed for that whole interval). I really think Nascar screwed up by continuing to throw the competition cautions. Make the teams take some risks. After the first forty (40) laps, they knew what they were dealing with. What a joke!
Video: Diamondbacks Catcher Chris Snyder Fractures Left Testicle Although the injury report just says that Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Chris Snyder is on the 15-day DL with a groin injury, the team revealed that he suffered a "left testicular fracture" Monday when hit by a foul ball. "Suspended in the scrotum, a skin pouch below the penis, each testicle is surrounded by the tunica albuginea, a tough, fibrous covering that often takes the hit of trauma to the gland," according to UrologyHealth.Org. "Like the shell of an egg, it can be easily 'fractured' or shattered when confronted by a blunt or violent force." See the video.

Fines will be imposed for clear cases of flopping: The league office has yet to determine exact fine amounts for offending flops and how fines might escalate for repeat offenders, but in-game arena observers and video reviewers will be instructed to report instances of theatrical flopping for potential punishment as part of postgame reports on officiating and other matters.

Or how he traveled on that play...Or how the Laker's shot right beforehand hit the rim and the shot clock should have been reset... I agree in principle here. I didn't see the end of the game, but the part I saw seemed poorly officiated. That's a shame for a conference finals game.
Pau Gasol headed to the Lakers. The Memphis Grizzlies and Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a trade that will send the disgruntled Spaniard to LA for Kwame Brown, rookie point guard Javaris Crittenton, a couple of first round draft picks, and the rotting corpse of Aaron McKie's career.

As a Griz fan and huge Pau fan, I'd say it will definitely hurt the Griz. But, apparently a lot of knowledgeable folks disagree since Wallace basically gave him away. McKie's retired, so he's a throwaway. I don't know enough about the guy from Georgia Tech to know what kind of contribution he could make. Including Mark must be some kind of sick joke. I'd think that would just make Pau mad. Finally, on Brown...from my understanding he's a throwaway, too. The only reason Wallace wanted him was because his contract expires at the end of this season. We're about to get rid of one head case (Swift), but apparently we'll have one to replace him for the rest of the season. I don't think the Griz will be able to get anyone comparable to Pau in the off season (even with a max contract). I suppose we'll see. Oh, and the draft picks? Adding Pau to the Lakers should ensure that the draft picks will be very close to the end of the first round...big whoop. Who have the Griz drafted since Battier that was ever any good anyway? I suppose Conley may be one day, but again we'll see.
Gordon, JJ lose 100 points; crew chiefs suspended six races Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson were docked 100 points each Tuesday, and their crew chiefs were both fined $100,000 and suspended for six races for violations at Infineon Raceway.

I agree with you, machaus. In the past they've been more reasonable and admitted they'd been outsmarted--and promptly made a new rule. I can stomach their willingness to be flexible with punishments, but being flexible about rules (think Calvin and Hobbs...make it up as you go along) is very frustrating.
The New Coach of the Sacramento Kings?
Eric Musselman.

When the Grizzlies picked him up as an assistant coach, I didn't figure they'd have him long. The other wildcard in this situation is his relationship with Bonzi Wells. The Grizzlies traded Bonzi last summer after he had a falling out with coach Fratello. So, I'd be curious to know what Musselman's relationship with him is like.
