Testaverde Returns to Jets Vincent Frank Testaverde, the last active player from the NFL/AFL Merger and the institution of the mandatory helmet rule, will sign with New York, desperate for a quarterback after losing starter Chad Pennington and backup Jay Fiedler to injury.

Doesn't Carter have to serve a suspension or something? I agree that he does seem like a slightly more valid option than Testaverde. Then again, it's more likely that Testaverde will be devoured by the New England defense in some hilarious way... so I'm all for it! I think they'll probably try to start Bollinger first, though.

He has... an overall poor level of play? He has... an imaginary wrestling championship belt? He has... a promising future with the Berlin Thunder?

Jesus, there sure seem to be a plethora of bad sports articles lately. Maybe he should look at the beam in his own eye? I'm referring to Cricket, of course. (Also, our fans don't regularly kill each other)

Patriots Squash Colts, 20-3 Peyton Unitas threw none touchdowns in another crushing playoff loss to the New England Patriots, who were led by Corey Dillon's 144 rushing yards. Like my Jacksonville Jaguars in 1999, Indianapolis risked the wrath of Touchdown Jesus by releasing a premature celebration song while the playoffs were still taking place.

I have to admit that it's kind of weird how the Pats have beaten the Colts in every possible way in the last 2 years and every time it's like this big upset. I, too, would like to see a tape of the game. The Colts offense looked like it was Luke McCown throwing to whoever the Browns receivers are. lbb: you will be happy to know that here in Maine everyone jumps up and screams "BRUUUUUSKKIIII!!" when he makes a big play.

Stadiums of the NFL - your ticket to every NFL stadium, from the past to the future.

IIRC the Saints stadium is the oldest dome in the NFL. There were some complaints during the 2001(?) Superbowl that it was kinda... skeezy. Of course, I haven't been in it myself, so I have no idea. And yeah, luxury boxes are super-big among owners. Much money to be made there. The team that is REALLY leaving are the Colts, who can't seem to make money despite a white-hot offense. Expect them to resettle in Los Angeles (or possibly, but probably not Toronto) in the near future.

Every day is one step closer to the single-most important thing in all of the observable universe the return of the NFL season (and Tuesday Morning Quarterback). TMQ previews the AFC and NFC.

His mixture of spot-on football commentary and inept political punditry delivers a nice, weekly bit of cognitive dissonance for me.
