I'm a 19 year old guy who has loved sports since I was old enough to throw a ball, shoot a puck and pick my nose. I live in Edmonton and (surprise, surprise) Im a huge hockey fan and Oilers die hard. However it doesnt begin and end at the rink. I love the CFL and NFL and follow both religiously. I've been a long time Twins and Expos fan, but it looks like those days will be over soon.
Greatest sporting event I'v ever been to was the Hertigae Classic outdoor NHL game November 23rd here in Edmonton. Picture this: Commonwealth stadium, capacity 66,000...packed to the brim with hockey lovers braving the -30 F weather to watch Gretzky and company do another skate around the rink. And the real game couldnt have been better with a 4-3 Canadiens win.
This is followed closely by the 90th Grey Cup in Edmonton where the Eskimos choked away the chance to win the CFL championship at home, losing to the Montreal Alouttes. The game was highlighted by a 99 yard TD by Canadian WR Pat Woodcock for Montreal in front of another sellout crowd of 66,000.
