Fines will be imposed for clear cases of flopping: The league office has yet to determine exact fine amounts for offending flops and how fines might escalate for repeat offenders, but in-game arena observers and video reviewers will be instructed to report instances of theatrical flopping for potential punishment as part of postgame reports on officiating and other matters.

To all the Spurs haters,I agree Manu flops alot (i get especially irrited when he drives the lane, heaves up a prayer and, whether he makes it or not, immediately put his hand on his mouth like he got popped) but there are players that are plenty worse. kirilenko comes to mind as well as derek fisher.

CONSPIRACY THEORY ALERT: All the flopping in the world doesn't matter because the NBA decides before the game starts who is going to win. It's been pretty obvious to me that, since the playoffs have started, the NBA is going to do anything to get the lakers/celtics into the finals so they can try to rekindle the good old days from magic/larry. How many times must I watch kobe duck his shoulder and bull through a defender to get a basket and not get called for charging? Or how about Duncan getting knocked on his ass while making a shot and not getting an "and one" call. Better yet, the jersey grabbing celtics that seem to never get called for anything they do wrong. The NBA is the perfect opportunity to pull of this stunt because the referees are in a perfect position to add/take points off the board and virtually control every aspect of a game including killing momentum. David Stern is as crooked any as commisioner in pro sports. He fixed the NBA draft in 1986 for christs sake, does any one really think he would turn a blind eye pre determining games if it was going to make a little extra money. and for anyone who thinks my opinionis wrong or that it's just down right bullshit i give you tim doneghy(or however you spell his name. I d not believe he was the only NBA ref to pull this crap off and he already he admitted he would ref games in his favor. Instead of trying to punish floppers I say do something so that the officiating is more even.

Witness This! Pierce and LeBron Duel; Celtics Advance To Conference Finals The Boston Celtics needed every bit of their storied history to turn back LeBron James. Paul Pierce scored 41 points and the Celtics held off the Cleveland Cavaliers 97-92 yesterday in a pulsating Game 7 of the National Basketball Association's Eastern Conference semifinals.

posted to Basketball at 6:17 AM CDT

Well if pierce had done more of this phenominal scoring in game 6, I wouldn't have had to hit the blackjack table in Vegas to try to win back the money I lost on the Celtics. Sadly, the table's were about as kind to me as the fighting lebrons that night.

Roger Clemens Roger Clemens states that he did get injections, but they were not steroids. Now congress is asking him to testify.

posted to Baseball at 10:36 PM CDT

OK, back to the subject at hand. Unless I'm mistaken, didn't clemens state in a video on youtube that he was never injected with anything, steroids or otherwise, by anyone. I've always been a huge Clemens fan but if his youtube video states that and he is now telling 60 minutes he WAS, in fact, injected but it was just B12 and lidocaine, it makes him look like a fantastic moron.

Since it wasn't mentioned in the article, I feel obligated to pimp my Colorado Buffaloes win over then #3 Oklahoma. Clearly not the biggest sports story of the year worldwide......but it was for me.

Tim Tebow, happy to be a Gator. Happy to be the Heisman winner. The legend of Tim Tebow grows, as he becomes the first under classman to win the prestigious award.

posted to Football at 9:11 PM CDT

They should just rename it the ESPN trophy. Seemingly every time I turned on ESPN, the college analysts ( and some anchors) were touting Tebow. It seems like they do this in years that there is no clear cut favorite. It doesn't matter to me if Tebow scored 100 td's, a QB shouldn't win college footballs highest honor if he can't translate his good stats into wins. Seeing as how the QB touches that ball on ever down, he should be winning games. Besides that, he is clearly not the most important player on that team.....they won a national title last year in the same system with Leak at QB (only 1 loss, by the way).

I feel like McFadden should have won. His number were better than last year, his best game of the year came against the #1 team in the nation, and since he took turns at QB I think it's pretty clear he was the most important ( and best) player at Arkansas.

Police hunt for laser-toting fan. Police will examine CCTV footage of Saturday's match involving Chelsea and West Ham in a bid to find the culprit who shone a green 'laser beam' into the face of Didier Drogba.

posted to Soccer at 12:53 PM CDT

I didn't see the match but my guess would be the "sales projection" variety of laser. They are easier to smuggle in as opposed to, say, a (excuse me....THE) death star. One might have to have mighty large pockets for that.......

For The Love of Sport: Rivalry This game is a classic rivalry, it will determine the Big Ten title, and by establishing a Big Ten champion it will punch at least one BCS ticket. Kyrilmitch_76 returns with the latest installment of his weekly column.

posted to Football at 10:31 AM CDT

Both teams only have one conference loss so the winner of the game is the outright winner of the Big Ten and, thus, would earn the automatic berth for the BCS bowl.

Jimmy Kimmel Banned From Monday Night Football Asked for his opinion on safe Monday Night guests, Kimmel suggested Carrot Top.

posted to Football at 2:44 AM CDT

Funny that they would ban Kimmel for his comments but allow Tony Kornheiser to go on air and allege that Eli Manning's last name was the only reason he was drafted in the top slot. The exact quote, I believe, was; " Does anyone really think Eli Manning would have gotten drafted #1 overall if his last name wasn't Manning?" Ron Jaworski was very quick to correct him but I would think that someone who is supposed to be a sportswriter by trade would have a little more knowledge about, you know, sports and stuff. Anyone who saw Eli Manning play at Ole Miss knows what he was able to accomplish with a very mediocre team and, therefore, knows why he was drafted first overall.

Patriots Caught Taping Jets Defensive Signals, May Lose Draft Picks ESPN is reporting with some confidence that the Patriots have been found guilty of videotaping the Jets' defensive signals during Sunday's game. Commissioner Goodell, who never misses an opportunity to make an example of a transgressor, is said to be ready to strip the Patriots of draft picks as punishment, although the team will first be allowed to present a defense at a closed hearing. What repercussions might this cheating incident have on the Patriots and the league as a whole?

posted to Football at 7:19 AM CDT

Not only have the Patriots been accused of this before (and received and "sternly worded" letter from the league office to stop) but Manigini used to coach under Belichick. It stands to reason that he would have intimate knowledge of the sideline activities and would therefore know what to look for. If it seems that Mangini "just can't beat the Patriots" then maybe it's because they are stealing his defensive calls.

In my opinion, and I am not a fan of any team the Patriots have throttled in the past (save the Texans-who everyone throttled), these actions call into question everything about the Patriots from Belichick being a coaching genius to the nations love affair with Tom Brady. It really is amazing what a 6th round pick at QB can accomplish when he knows what play the defense will be running.

In 2005, OU went 0-4? The University of Oklahoma has been forced to vacate its eights win during the 2005 season. The NCAA handed down extra penalties to OU in relation to the dismissal of starting quarterback Rhett Bomar and two other players after it was found they were paid by a Norman car dealership for work they didn't do. Head coach Bob Stoops, who led the Sooners to an 8-4 record and a win in the Holiday Bowl in 2005, will see his career coaching mark drop from 86-19 to 78-19.

posted to Football at 3:58 PM CDT

The only problem I have with the whole deal is that it doesn't seem like the NCAA was really "punishing" OU. As mentioned above, 2 scholarships in college football doesn't amount to squat and vacating the wins for a lackluster 2005 season (sandwiched between two pretty good seasons) is almost doing the program a favor. The real question is would the NCAA have punished OU at all if the infractions happened in '04 or '06? I personally don't think so.

Bulls 1 - Pistons 3
Cavs 3 - Nets 1
Suns 2 - Spurs 2
Warriors 1 - Jazz 3

It will be hard for the NBA to justify suspending any player from either the Suns or the Spurs in game 4 if they wouldn't even suspend Baron Davis for a blatant elbow to Derek Fisher.

Fisher returns, lifts Jazz in OT The Utah Jazz's unlikely hero Wednesday night, Derek Fisher, gave an explanation about his sick daughter after his team's 127-117 NBA playoff victory against the Golden State Warriors. After the game, he told how serious 10-month-old Tatum's condition was. She has retinoblastoma, a form of eye cancer that required a three-hour combination of surgery and chemotherapy at New York's Presbyterian Hospital.

not to nit-pick, yay-yo, but as a spurs fan i remember vividly that it was .4, not .6 seconds, lol.

seriously, though, i pray that his daughter makes a full recovery.
