Coach of The Year Lovie Smith was hired to resurrect a proud franchise in Chicago. He did such a strong job in 2005 that he was chosen The Associated Press NFL Coach of the Year on Saturday.

Herman Edwards is going to Kansas City after all: The Chiefs are dotting i's and crossing t's on a contract that would replace the recently retired Dick Vermeil with one of his former defensive proteges, who has suddenly become unwelcome in North Jersey.
