Seattle SuperSeahawks Sean Alexander ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns to send the Seattle Seahawks to the Super Bowl as NFC champions over the Carolina Panthers, 34-14.

Fantastic game. Congrats Seahawks and fans. Now pack your and get your collective ass to Detroit. If you truly are the best 12th Man in the NFL (and you've been fantastic so far), you will find a way to out-number the Steeler fans at Ford Field. It's a tall task, but I'm calling you out!

NBA brawl in the stands repeated Or something else? New York Knick Antonio Davis ran into the stands during a game in Chicago, claiming his wife's safety was being threatened. Larry Brown supported him, immediately drawing a distinction between what happened last night and what happened that fateful day last year at the Palace, saying "That thing that happened in the stands had nothing to do with the two teams. That's a man concerned about his family." Regardless, this incident underscores the weak, often ineffective security at sports venues around the country.

I hate that correlations are being made between this incident and what happened in Indiana last year.

I applaud Antonio Davis for showing restraint and finding out the situation before wildly throwing haymakers. I think if security had been paying more attention, this could have been stopped before it was a news story.

Davis did what he had to do. The refs played by the book and ejected him. The NBA will probably fine/suspend him. But he protected his family, that's what counts.

I totally agree. I'm sure Davis knew what he was doing was wrong when he was doing it, but it's a small price to pay to ensure the safety of your family. The officials did what they had to do and I wouldn't be suprised if Davis DOESN'T appeal his suspension.

I understand missing gates. Believe me, I've clipped enough gates myself to know what it's like to go down the course backwards with one ski on. It's a hard enough thing to do and do well sober (especially at his level) without running gates under the influence.

Racing is fun. Having a few cervezas on the slopes with my buddies is fun. Combining the two, probably not so good.

I don't honestly believe that he was blitzed while racing. I would like to think that he has better judgement than that. I just like to razz people. If I had just won the WC, I would be up all night partying myself.

Sucker-punch drunk in the NHL front office What will it take for the NHL to learn to remove cheap shots from the game? A question asked by sportsfilter's own wfrazerjr.

Well said, loquax. No penalty will absolutely eliminate these kind of infractions. The only thought I have to add is, if it is the same guys commiting these aggregious acts, longer suspensions and, if necessary, banishments might help eliminate this element via less ice-time for dirty players. Let the players play and the thugs go be thugs on the street.

'Scuse me, sir. I can't see the game. Could you please remove your head?

Ho!!!

Some great photos. Here's to 2005 starting like 2006. Now, go pour yourselves a cold one.

How to do some really cool stunts, or maybe just break some windows and furniture and send yourself to the hospital. The Book of Cool teaches you to master a variety of useless skills, such as finger-spinning a basketball, shoulder-popping a soccer ball, or throwing a golf ball into the air and then driving it.

Pot, kettle...kettle, pot. You two should have a lot in common. Vikings coach Mike Tice shows beyond the shadow of a doubt that no matter what school he went to, or degree he received, he simply does not know the definition of the word "irony."

They are marching in the streets in Detroit. If there is one thing people from Detroit know how to do, it's get pissed off. Maybe it's time. I don't think this team is going anywhere until Ford sells it to someone who WANTS to win.

Great! We can turn Ford Field into Suzuki Stadium or if Toyota gets involved, the Lexus Lions.

I got to watch the entire game here in San Diego, and for thosse fo you who didn't get to see it, the game was almost all Chargers. They shut out the Colts in the first half and kept Indy out of scoring range after giving up the lead so that the offense could come back and win the game.

This team (the Chargers) is too good to be on the outside looking in right now. (Has any other team had a total losing margin of 14 points in a season?) Brees has been money all year (except Week 12 v. WAS), LT has been LT and when LT has been LT-on-the-bench lately, Michael Turner has been a good LT impersonator, Gates is Gates, and the receiving core is actually catching passes this year. Oh yeah, the defense seems to finally be gelling. Too many early round picks to be as bad as they have been.

If the Chargers, by the grace of the Football Gods, make the playoffs, they will be a force to be reckoned with.

Except during that Week 1 loss, when he was benched.

And that loss, or any single loss from early in the season, could come back to haunt us. (Especially the Steelers loss on Monday Night!)

Charges brought against 4 Vikings for events occurring during "Love Boat cruise" I debated on putting the link up to this. It is really sickening to hear the light hearted manner by which the ESPN boys are discussing this. What Culpepper and the boys did was terrible it doesnt need to be glorified.

Is that charge against Smoot for real?!? I wanna move to Minnesota just to have that on my record!!

New Course, New Guides, Old Wounds The women's World Cup ski circuit comes to the United States once a year, so neither freezing temperatures, nor a deepening chill in the family, nor cancer will keep 70-year-old Doris Rudsill Kildow from Aspen Mountain this weekend.

posted to Other at 1:23 AM CDT

If you are near Colorado when this happens, GO SEE THIS!! I worked at Mammoth Mountain when the World Cup came 10 years ago, and these ladies are incredible!

As far as young Miss Kildow, this is a prime example of why its important for parent to hire a coach if they wish their children to excel at sports.

"He always supported me when I did well, which was 90 percent of the time, but when I didn't, he didn't handle it very well. It was so hot and cold. It was so much criticism and so much negativity, and it was really hard for me to balance emotions."

It is so hard for children to separate their emotions for a parent and the criticism of a coach if they are coming from the same source. Kids need the criticism and the drive to succeed from a coach, but also need the love and support from home to balance it out.

Its good to hear that the US has a chance in Turino in the downhill events. I'm sick of being second fiddle to the European nations. There is no excuse why we can be as good, if not better, than the elite in the racing circuit.
