Say it ain’t so, George! Report: Boston Red Sox T-shirt buried in new Yankee Stadium by construction worker.

Doesn't matter - the Yankees are and have been cursed for a long time. They are stuck in New York!!! Go, win, anyone but the Yankees!

Good for that worker creating a prank - prosecuting someone for a bit of fun would be crazy! Look at all the good publicity it brought the Yanks who always need something good said about them. Leave the prankster alone.

Brett Favre Retires Brett Favre has told the Packers and coach Mike McCarthy Tuesday morning he's planning on retiring after 17 seasons.

INTERCEPTIONS! What quarterback has not had significant ones? I like "blaming the receiver."

Not only is Favre a great player in this game, he is a great model for young people (and older for that matter). Best wishes and all blessings. Enjoy!

"The chief executive officer of Tribune Company says he won't hesitate to sell the naming rights to Wrigley Field -- even if baseball purists don't like the idea. Zell has a suggestion for the makers of DoubleMint and Juicy Fruit.

'Perhaps the Wrigley Company will decide after getting it for free for so long that's time to pay for it,' he said."

This is exactly what is most wrong about baseball - now it is mostly about money (I don't say "all" because the game is still wonderful for those who love to watch those who love to play)

I like the suggestion about Doublemint and Juicy Fruit. But let's not call it "DoubleJuide Field!"

You can help ease New Orleans' pain David Stern saw a city in pain, and I think he wanted to help, and I think he wouldn't have been able to forgive himself if he didn't help.

chicobangs: "I can't help but remain cynical..." Well, Mr. Cynical, have you gone there and looked at the still remaining devastation? Do you realize that EVERY DAY since Katrina happened, there have been volunteers there working to help bring back New Orleans, or at least to provide some livable space to the thousands of people whose lives were torn apart? Maybe it is your turn to go - spend some of your vacation time. Your entire perspective on the human race will change - you will have hope for humanity when you leave.

Tony Kornheiser Hates Sportsfilter If a huge dumpster landed on their mother's house, and got all the way into the basement and crushed them, nobody would care. Nobody would miss them. They provide nothing good, no service that's any good at all.

right, THX-1138. I have no idea. I would rather exchange ideas about sports than watch TV (unless good sports were on). If you don't like it, don't read it, it is very simple. In America we all have choices. Isn't that good??

Cavs Acquire Ben Wallace and Wally Alphabet for Playoff Run. Eleven player, three team deal between Cleveland, Chicago and Seattle. TrueHoop's thoughts.

apoch-BW has been moving, but he was at Detroit for a long time. I know, I am a Pacers fan and as such, need to keep my senses about Detroit, just about every year. However, it is not a particularly good year to be a Pacer fan, but they have been great for a long time - maybe this is the time out they needed to get in a good draft position.

Sampson Reportedly Out at Indiana An official announcement is expected from the school tomorrow. Fox Sports is calling it a firing, while WTHR-TV in Indianapolis says it could be a buyout. Assistant Coach Dan Dakich, who started the season in an administrative position, but was pressed into service following the resignation of former Assistant Coach Rob Senderoff after allegations of improper phone calls to recruits, is likely to finish the season as Head Coach.

I am a long time IU fan, and I hope that they do NOT fire Sampson. He is personable enough that even I have had the opportunity to talk to him. I think he is caught in an NCAA attempt to redefine what "contact" means. AND I don't think DD has the skills to coach a team the caliber of IU. He seems nice enough, but he never seems too exciting. Go Hoosiers!

curlyelk - Hoosiers are too cool to do such a thing. These guys (especially DJ White) have been through lots of changes and lots of difficult situations. They do what they have to do, and they did it to Northwestern as well. (If I am correct they now share the Big Ten Conference lead - not bad for kids so beleagurered.

The word I keep hearing: "buyout" bothers me. Sampson RESIGNED. Yes, he did so under tremendous pressure. He did so as he said for the benefit of the program. I believe that because now they can move ahead without this hanging over their heads as well as hanging over Sampson's. Now the accusations hand over him ALONE. Remember, they are simply accusations. The man has been vilified way too much over some extra phone calls that MIGHT have been made. There are 100 other college coaches that say they have done the same as Sampson. Hmmm. Might there be a scapegoat here?

Go Hoosiers!

Scandal Hits Indiana Hoops Sampson may finally get his haircut permanently by the Delilah from NCAA.

posted to Basketball at 12:34 PM CDT

Sampson is caught in this stupid attempt to define what a "phone call is" now that there is text messaging and email and cell phones. He is a great person, and very ethical. These "infractions" have already been in the news for months, and IU has already imposed sanctions as a result of these. This is simply the NCAA follow-up to something that has been in the news a long time. BORING!!! Let him be - GO HOOSIERS!
