Barry Bonds offers to play for free.
My opinion on Bonds is no secret, however I noticed this tidbit in the paper yesterday and have been meaning to post about it. Barry Bonds' agent has offered his services to all 30 teams, at a pro-rated salary of the league minimum (at this point, about $200,000 total), even offering to play for free by donating that salary to buying tickets for the game; his trial date isn't until next March, so he would not be prevented from playing.

Despite this, apparently Barry's agent has received no interest, bolstering claims that the league is colluding to prevent him being hired.

If my team was 0 and 80 with a slugging % of 0 I still wouldn't consider having B.B. on my team. And anybody that don't believe he took steriods has their head in the sand. All the proof I need is in the photo albums and the stat books. You don't get older and improve. Take my word for it.

Top 10 Unbreakable Sports Records Whenever the inevitable debate arises among sports fans concerning the record that is the least likely to ever be broken, many people are quick to cite Joe DiMaggio's 56-game hit streak. But there are many others...

Carl Edwards Heavily Penalized For Cheating, But Doesn't Have To Forfeit Vegas Win. Wait, what?

I suppose we all have our preferences. I long for the days of " Run what you brung" Back then the manufactures did most of the cheating. You had to have a minimum number of cars on the dealers floor before he could race a paticular model of car. No problem just fudge the paper work a little and away you go. The extra lap or two of fuel hidden in the 2" diameter fuel transfer line that did any number of loops and bends between the fuel tank and the engine compartment. Everybody knew the tricks and everybody used them.
As for the number of drivers who can win. Granted there are more. But now it's the 2 or 3 OWNERS who have a chance to win. Hendrix,Roush,Childress. The rest will notch a win or two during the season but that's about it. Give me the good old days and boys. Tell Winston they are more than welcome to come back.

Giants Win Superbowl!

posted to Football at 9:07 PM CDT

My play or lack of a play was the dropped interception by Samuel during that last two minutes. He makes the INT and the game is over. The second play was the Manning escape from the three Pats defensive players. If another defender would have come in and laid a hit on him while he was in their grasp he would have gotten an unnecessary roughness penalty. Thats my perspective. All of that didn't happen so congrats to the Giants.

Bobby Knight gets 900th career victory. In spite of slaps, chokes, and shootings, he's still on top of the heap.

The Meat In An Ineptitude Sandwich Tubby Smith's predecessor and successor are both making him look good.

Don't forget the team playing in the bluegrass was recruited by Tubby. Don't knock the present coach until he has a team recruited by him.
Something tells me Tubby saw this team coming and knew when to bail out.

Motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel dead at 69 Immortalized in the Smithsonian Institution in Washington as "America's Legendary Daredevil," Knievel was best known for a failed 1974 attempt to jump an Idaho canyon on a rocket-powered cycle and a spectacular crash at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.

posted to Extreme at 4:22 PM CDT

If Evel had a modern motorcycle with the good suspension systems he could have jumped over the moon, or at least gave it a good try.
See ya Evel. I'll miss you.

The old left-hander, rounding third and heading for home. Joe Nuxhall passed away at the age of 79 last night. His first appearance in a game was at the age of 15 for the Cincinnati Reds, making him the youngest player in MLB history. Joe went on to have a 15 year career (including 3 all-star selections) on the field and another 40 years in the broadcast booth.

I saw Joe pitch a couple of times at the old Crosley Field in Cincinnati and listened to any number of games on radio when he was partnered with Marty Brenaman. See ya Joe. I'll miss you.

"I expected it to be kind of a factory setting...and what I found was a very loving, somewhat casual environment...they weren't factories, they were more like gardens." Jimmy Kimmel Banned From Monday Night Football Asked for his opinion on safe Monday Night guests, Kimmel suggested Carrot Top.

posted to Football at 2:44 AM CDT

What did they expect from Kimmel. That is what he does. He hit the nail on the head when he said there are sacred cows that cannot be made fun of. The same applies in all of our sports broadcasts. When the broadcasters and networks are beholding to the atheletes and owners for their livelehoods what you get is all watered down with a lot of bull. As for making fun of owners, former players, and other " personalities " , go for it. Nobody is making us watch these programs
